Let’s talk about my favorite topic: Me

“Are all men from the future loud mouth braggarts? Just me baby, just me!” – From the movie Army of Darkness.

Well for one I really like to learn more about my fellow bloggers, and other peoples gaming addictions. Makes me feel a little more normal, but “There is no normal life, just life” – Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in Tombstone.

I think my addiction in learning about others started with Grinding to Valhalla, a favorite site of mine where the creator Randolph Carter interviewed bloggers and writers. Read a little about yours truly here.

But I am a sucker for meme, and my two new blogging buddies Victoriafr started one, and realgdman of Rusty Shield  picked it up, and here I am passing it along to you.

When and why did I start playing World of Warcraft?

I have always been a big Warcraft fan, ever since Orcs and Humans came out. So I was already into MMO’s with Dark Ages came out, so I got into the WoW beta, and it’s been history ever since. So I was there at the very beginning…Oh I’m sorry that’s my huge Epeen showing, I’ll stuff that back in.

Where do I draw the line between casual and hardcore?

Pissing in a bottle, when you’re pissing in a bottle so you don’t hold the raid up….you’re hardcore…and if you’re a girl and you pee in a bottle not to miss a raid……consider this my proposal for marriage. Seriously if you are end game raiding more then 1 or 2 days a week, you’re pretty hardcore.

Do you consider yourself addicted to World of Warcraft?

I would say no, I was a gambling addict, so I know what real addiction is…this ain’t it. I still enjoy the game, and the day I don’t I’ll quit. I do take breaks from time to time to try something new, or just to take a breather.

What does your boyfriend/girlfriend say when your raiding “5 days” a week?

I refuse to answer this question cause of its gender bias, what if my girlfriend has a penis?  Ok I don’t really have a significant other, I just hit and quit it.

Have you tried other MMORPG’s, which ones?

Yes….Well Dark Ages of Camelot, Warhammer Online, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Everquest, Star Trek Online, I think that’s about it…might be one or two one I tried for a hot minute.

P.S. – Yes that’s a pic of me drunk on St. Patricks Day.

Talk about getting wood!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on January 4, 2011 by theerivs

So I started doing Dire Maul- Capital Gardens, or as we old schoolers use to call it Dire Maul – West with my Goblin Warrior Tank. I grabbed the quests, and to be honest I forgot where to go. So I asked, “Long time since I done this instance, who knows where to go?”

I get some sort of foreign language as a reply, wait their all speaking Spanish I think….I knew I shouldn’t of been looking at that girls butt in spanish class the whole time. I just blindly start killing stuff…

I see Tendris Treedick, and I start fighting him…I’m dead…wait where the hell is everybody? They were all standing around with thumbs in their asses.  So I get a rez, but I just want to say something. I hate Tendris Treedick. Why? He isn’t hard, nor does he do anything aggravating, I just hate them, perhaps cause he’s right in the middle of everything being stupid, or perhaps I hate looking at his wooden balls while tanking, even though I got a nice shield off him…I still hate him.

After that I get sick of these mofoes, and  I say “brb Lavanos es manos”. I need direction…To the Cloud…er to the Guild. Scary helped though it sounded like he was pissed, Dire Maul is like a shrine to him for some reason. Anyway we went the wrong way about doing things. We have to go back upstairs, then back down, then further down, then back up, then back down to finsih the silly quests, and killing blue douchebags.

Really seriously? My little Goblin feet are tired. Screw Dire Maul, Screw that Treedick, and most of all Screw those blue douchebags. I want to go back to Stratholme, just kill everything you see, and that’s it.

Sucker For Guides

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on December 8, 2010 by theerivs

I kick myself everytime, I go to buy a game. Somehow I get suckered into buying the guide. Everytime I hate myself for doing it, I go ahead and do it again. Yeah I bout the Cataclysm guide, I bought the Warhammer Online Guide to when that came out, well the list goes on.

Why….

I’m a Bibliophile – I love books. I don’t know what it is, I just do. Maybe that’s why I play a mage. My dream is to have a room, that I use as a personal library, a study if you will.

Size Matters - Their usually pretty thick, and big…well you know I’m a size queen.

Scientia Potentia Est – Knowledge is Power in other words. I always think that there may, just may be a nugget of info in there that will be useful.

The Pretty Pictures - Yeah the Art in there is pretty cool.

Sucker for Discount - Oh so I get 20 percent off right now, off the money I shouldn’t be blowing on this book.

Yeah so everytime there’s a game I like, and they have a guide, it’s most likely I’ll be shelling out the dough for it, but then kicking myself later for it.  Oh well at least I got some toilet reading.

Meet My Little Friend

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on October 22, 2010 by theerivs

So as you know my disgust for Warlocks runs deep and wide, but I figured in 4.01 to give my baby Warlock a test drive. He was sitting at level 10. So I had my 1 whole talent point refunded to me. So I looked at the talents.

Hello….Felguard for Demonology spec at level 10….Get the Frick out. So I plopped my one point in to Demonology.  Booya.  My awesome new friend. So I let him loose upon the world to crush and destroy. He did just that, I could hardly keep up with him, and sometimes he would kill so fast, I would lose the kill to him thus getting no xp, or loot.

I gained 2 levels in like 10 minutes, with rest, and BOA gear. I shit you not.  Wondering how long it will take him to get to 20. Heck screw quests it might be easier just to grind out levels with this Felguard maniac at my side.

Some other things I’m loving….

1. No more bags full of Soul Shards.

2. No more stupid quests to get my demons.

3. No more wasting gold on stupid demon training.

4. The spell animations look cooler. Drain Soul looks cool now, just not a thin laser line. It looks like I’m really draining the mofo’s soul.

5. I still get a kick out of Felguards sayings. Might not by level 80, wonder if there’s a way to shut them off, and on.

So as my hatred for Warlocks diminishes…..I still feel like I’m cheating on my girlfriend, but damn it….my mage never killed stuff as quick and with such ease. I guess it is easy to be swayed to the dark side….and yes they indeed have cookies.

Pure Awesomeness.

Yeah I was busy at work, so late lazy post, but I don’t care I wanted to share this awesomeness. Say what you want about Blizzard, they know how to make a cinematic to get the hype in me rolling.

PAIN……..AGONY……MY HATRED BURNS THROUGH THE CAVERNOUS DEEPS!!!!

The Portal Money Train is Back!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on October 8, 2010 by theerivs

Happy Days are Here Again My Mage Brethren….I read and it’s been confirmed by my magely beta testing friends that they will be removing portals from Shattrah, and Dalaran. What does this mean….that’s right GOLD! It will be raining gold from the heavens now. 10g a portal.  (15g if I’m being really a jerk)

That’s the new hotness right there.

Also I saw this in Build 13033..

For Druids…According to the tooltips, Swift Flight Form, Flight Form, Aquatic Form, Travel Form, Bear Form, Cat Form no longer make you immune to Polymorph.

BOUT FRICKING TIME. I might be visiting Warsong Gulch a little more now.

A Look Back at Wrath

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on September 15, 2010 by theerivs

As we wind down Wrath, and start to head into Cataclysm, I want to share my favorite parts of Wrath of the Lich King, and I hope Blizzard builds on that.

1. Phasing Technology – Man when I first looked at this it was truly innovative. You made a difference in the world you were playing. I liked it alot.

2. Some Better Quests – Say what you want about the Deathknights starting area, but when you were confronted with a person you knew from the past, and you had to kill them, that was some bold storytelling there. More of the same please..

3. The Fall and Rise of the Raid - When they introduced the ToC it felt like Raiding was no more, then they restored my faith with ICC. It was a great comeback, and some really different encounters. A mark of a good raid is the amount of times you hear people mimick bosses in your guild vent, and when I hear, “Good news everybody, the slime pipes are working again”…I just smile.

4. Vehicle Combat/Jousting – Though not a huge fan of it, I thought it was pretty neat in a MMO to have it, and I thought with a few tweaks it really could be awesome. I think they are on to something, and for what it’s worth it was something I never saw in an MMO.

5. Some cool plot twists – When the Forsaken bomb everyone to hell at Wrathgate, I was like Keanu in the Matrix – Whoa!

Sure there’s alot more cool things, and there is probably ALOT of sucky things, overall WotLK brought some new things to the table, and I really look forward to what Blizzard puts on the plate for Cataclysm.

Echo Isles Liberation

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on September 8, 2010 by theerivs

Well we must be drawing near to Cataclysm, cause the devs are ramping up the live events.

So I got an in-game mail from a troll. Ya mon, the trolls need your help taking back the Echo Isles…. So here is what it entails, and then give you my thoughts.

What you need to do…

1. Go to Senjin Village.

2. Talk to someone and fetch frogs. (Good Luck with this one since, everyone and their mother are here)

3. Ride a bat and toss frogs.

4. Become a Were-tiger, and fight a tiger.

5. Talk to someone, and watch a dance.

6. Join a huge battle against the evil of Echo Isles.

What you get…

An Achievement, some gold about 60, which is good for the time invested, and an item that turns you into a troll.

My Thoughts…

I don’t know I thought of something a little more epic. Catching frogs really?  The battle was a little cool, but the dialogue was pure stupidity, and when these mask “spirits”  joined the fight, I was like, “GTFO” from the sheer moronic of it.

I think they could have done a better job, and this little bit has me a tad frightened as to what Cataclysm will bring to the table.

Tales from the Darkside

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on September 1, 2010 by theerivs

Tales of the Darkside, I loved that show. Naming these posts as a  little homage to that freaky show I grew up with, and then later a freaky movie. It was Twilight Zone/Outer Limits like, but a tad more freakier…..

Anyway so I decided to level up a Warlock to see what the hell all the hub bub was about, and to see exactly why Mages hate Warlocks. I know I might be shunned by my Mage Brethren, but you know what my Paladin is nearing 80, (turned 79), and I need another project. Tons of  tokens means I’m going to get some BOA’s. I got enough BOA’s for several classes now. I also saw that really there aren’t that many Warlocks around anymore, and I am curious as to why.

Creation –

I went with Orc, cause just the duality of a big burly cloth wearer intriques me. I may switch him to Goblin race once that is available.

Levels 1 to 5-

Usual beginning zone crap, nothing unusual, from my earlier Warlocks I tried I noticed that no more hard ass imp quest to get my demon, and you don’t have to train a demon anymore it appears. Sooo they made an easy class….real easy. Nice.

The Pimping –

Yea loaded up my Warlock – BOA staff/chest/shoulders – Enchanted where I could. Tons of Bags, and yea 400gold. My Lock has just been pimped!

Levels 5 to 10 -

This is where the Warlock really starts to get easy. I think I was taking out Harpies 3 levels higher then me with out breaking a sweat. I never ate or drank, just killed, and killed some more. Immolate>Corruption>Curse of Agony> Shadow Bolt x2 = Dead Mob.  I don’t think I even Life Tapped that much.

To Do List -

Blueberry - I have to get my Blueberry now that I’m ten. I wonder if it’s still viable tactic to send Blueberry out, DOT UP the Mobs, and wand the shit out of things.

Spec - Is Affliction still the way to level?  How is Demonology?

Professions – I was thinking Mining, and Jewelcrafting, or Herbing and Inscription. With the changes to Glyphs coming, don’t think Inscription is going to be as popular a money maker as it was.

Hit 20- Get my Flaming Horse!

By the way the Warlock movies weren’t half bad….ok they were so bad, they were almost good.

Gnome Whorelocks Can Suck My Mage Staff.

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on August 27, 2010 by theerivs

So I was bored last night, so I went on a ride on my hog across the Barrens, and into Dustwallow Swamp. Then into Theramore itself.

After saying hello to my friend Jaina Proudmore, (She’s a boss toon, and no one ever seems to guard her. Wonder how hard would she be to kill) So I walked around Theramore wreaking havoc. Oohh the Boat was in.

I hopped on my hog, then rode towards the boat like a bat out of hell, then coming off the boat was a gnome on her motorcycle. It was funny for a second. We both turn around on our bikes and gaze at each other…..it’s a dirty whorelock.

So we both dismount. I unleash my Water Elemental. I put up my shields, I charge a frost bolt, I get feared……I’m dead.

Then she goes on her merry little gnome way, laughing her little gnome laugh.

I faced alot of warlocks 1v1, and the ones that I actually beat are very few, and very far between. This just wasn’t my day.

Though when I rezzed myself, and went back to the boat, a dumb 80 warrior passed through, and died rather quickly…Feel my wrath you wretched fool.
