Weekly Lagout

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 22, 2011 by scarybooster

I think River is still gone, so I decided to take it upon myself and do his Weekly Lagout. Of course, a Weekly Lagout is not a Weekly Lagout without River. To make it up to you, I will be doing my best River impersonation. This will not be my Weekly Lagout, but what River would Lagout if he was here to Lagout. You’ll see…

RIFT- Well, I’ve lost interest in this game. I’m just waiting for my sub to run out. I feel lonely without my Mage. The game is just not cartoony enough for me. Maybe, I’ll resub to it in the future when they downgrade the fun.

WAR- I mentioned last week I was thinking about resubbing to WAR. I am still thinking. Since I’ve been drunk all week and think I pissed myself because I was thinking too hard, I think I might think a bit more about kerplunking my time into it. I miss WAR’s RvR, but I can’t get over how much the non-RvR sucks. I’m back and forth with this game. I just think I thunk, when I took a kerplunk from being so drunk, in my ex-girlfriend’s trunk that is full of junk.

STO- I bought the damn CE for this game! I feel so stupid for buying it. I feel I need to play it more. It is kind of like when you piss all over your hands and feel you NEED to wash them before eating popcorn. My hands are wet and I’m eating popcorn. Yeah, that warm yellow liquid is not butter topping.

WoW- Man, I have been salivating over my Mage goodness. I was like, pew, pew, frost shield, pew, pew, auction house bitch, pew, pew, riding in my choppa, Pyroblast, pew, pew, rollin’ in my six-deuce. I feel on top of the world with my Mage. I love my Mage. My Mage is sexy. I want to marry my Mage. <3 Mage

SWTOR- A lot of juiciness has been coming out of whale’s vagina Comic-Con. I see we can now preorder the game. I’ll tell you right now; I am going to play the crap out of this game until my Mage feels lonely. Ok, I’ll play it for 1 month and keep talking about how I am going to resub to it every Friday during Weekly Lagout. I just don’t think I can play a game that doesn’t have Mage. I’ll probably by the CE and regret it.

High Latency Love

I love myself, mainly. I want to thank Bee and Scarybooster for filling in for me. If Scary had a vagina I would be at his house in seconds. To Bee: She does have a vagina… Call me m’kay /wink. I’m sure I can get drunk and queue in a BG all night with you.

Somethin’ Funny

Your face!

WELL, MY CHICKEN CLUCKS AND I’M OUTTA BEER!

**From the Desk of River – I want to thank Scary, and Bee from the bottom of my heart. I hope you had as much fun writing this week, as I did reading your stuff. Your friend Riv.

Warhammer Woes

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on June 29, 2010 by theerivs

Let’s get back to the business of talking games. Lately there has been a malaise feeling in WAR, I feel it within the guild, the faction, even myself when I log in it feels  like blah!.

The problem is I can’t put my finger on it. I love the game. Perhaps it’s the fact  I have a massive grind to go in renown, or it’s just the malaise of everyone else effecting me, or the fact that they got rid of someone I respect within the gaming community immensely, perhaps it’s summer blues hitting Warhammer as well. (World of Warcraft is getting hit my pre-expansion/summertime blues).

I think Mythic needs to hit us with something big, and mind blowing to get the world to sit up, and take notice again. Alas the more and more I think about it, it seems they are in maintenance mode.

Prayers to the Raven God.

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on June 23, 2010 by theerivs

Ok WAR has hit a little bit of a stagnation. The City Siege Ping Pong is getting tiresome, and the grind for Renown is killing my soul. We need a little livening up of the game me thinks. So I am trying to evoke Divine help from the Ruinous Powers.

My Suggestions…

2x – 3x Renown – Through a Special Event,  or through Special Gear, like BOA gear like WoW. I think if you up the reward for fighting you will get more people fighting. I don’t care just make it happen..

Special Influx of Cool Loot – Some New Weapons will bring the boys to the Yard.

A New Special Event – Maybe Gortek and Felix found a dragon and need your help, or Sorcerors of the Raven God, Have found a powerful Demon of Slannesh, and need your help in culling it. Like just a One Boss. I love to Hit it and Quit it.

Some more News – Ever since they laid of Josh, things have been quiet…too quiet.

May the Blessings of the Raven God be upon us.

My Crusade Against RP

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on June 18, 2010 by theerivs

A few months back, an RP Icon attacked a lone blogger, who really didn’t have a way to defend herself. I went way out on a limb, some thought I was crazy, perhaps maybe I am. But I wanted to prove a few things, even though my methods were out of line, I think I got my point across. So a fellow blogger said something, and it struck me as something all too true.

“Rp’ers take rping very seriously” – Pug. Priest.

Yes I know this,  it’s cult like. No other opinion will be heard, and if you differ from their opinion you get attacked en masse, and with a ruthlessness that would put a 13 year old PvP’er to shame. These people are elitists of a whole different genre, I have more respect for some elitists because they proven to me they either have the skills, or talent to accomplish something. These RP elite have proved what? They can walk in an inn, and tell me how good fake food is. They are always looking for new recruits, but don’t worry you’ll get to hang around them, but god forbid you take part, cause I even seen one of them post something about how you should be ok to be excluded.

What angers me so?

Their defense of the douchebags to the point where it’s smacks of hypocrisy. They have something called ERP (Erotic Role Play), and they gather around and do some nasty stuff. How do I know, just go to Goldshire on any RP server.  Now I am no angel by any means, and I fill guild chat with the most foulest things possible. Here’s the crux though, I don’t randomly go into Goldshire, and say I want to stick something where the sun don’t shine. What if there was a young girl, or boy leveling a toon, and they hear this crap.  I am no babe in the woods, and I know the Internet is a scary place, but if something is bad….it’s bad.

Is RP dying?

From what I hear around the blogosphere, it is, and small wonder why. I like the ideals of RP, but those ideals are long gone. To pretend to play a role in Warcraft, to actually play the game like your living in the Warcraft Universe. That is a lofty goal, and one I concur with, but now you have people pretending to be half elf vampire lesbians.

With all their QQ, The irony of it all it’s RP’ers themeselves who are destroying RP. With their hypocrisy, cult like behaviors they are scaring those who might be interested, and that is my greatest joy of my crusade, to see RP fail on a grand scale, and without lifting so much as a hand.

6 reasons to check out Warhammer Online

Posted in MMORPG with tags on June 16, 2010 by theerivs

Well with Mythic being quiet during E3, I thought I would lend a hand and tell you why you should pick the game up, or maybe even come back.

1. It’s free to start - You can actually play it for free, no real stores to buy upgrades, just play and kick butt. As my Grandpappy use to say, “You can beat a dog, but you can’t beat free”

2. Performance - Warhammer admittedly had some issues here, but not anymore. I play with graphics turned all the way up, ground effects and even when facing a massive horde of scum order, I don’t get laggy. I might get my ass handed to me, but I don’t get laggy.

3. Mythic - Mythic not only listens to their customers, they make them involved. Mythic isn’t perfect but every screw up they had, they admitted it, and rectified it. P.S. Thanks for the Manticore.

4. Awesome PvP – Here it’s called Realm versus Realm, and it’s pretty epic. Especially when you see lines being drawn in the sand, or go charging forth screaming ”For the Raven God!”

5. Community- I think in every MMO, you got the asshats. But the good guys vs asshat ratio here is real low. Very helpful, ton of resources, and people will bend over backwards to help you if the can.

6. I play – Come say hi to me on Iron Rock, Destro side. Rivs the Drunkard. I’ve been playing a Chosen, and sucking since day 1

So if your looking for a game to try out, go ahead download it…It’s free to try it!

The Emperor’s Circle Jerk

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on June 9, 2010 by theerivs

So I did another City Siege last night, and I have to say it, that one hallway leading to the Empreror’s Circle, is the stupidest ever. Though I really can blame the design too much, when you have people beating on tanks leaving healers untouched.  Destro has gotten use to the Zerg, and in the new City Siege we have to go back to fundamentels. Well I just feel that hallway is a huge choke point, and too beneficial to Order…

On the bright side I got renown, and crests, and I can always use those.

I’m really excited about some of the upcoming changes…is it sad though the one change I’m really excited about is making your armor appear different. Yeah I didn’t get the titles “Trendy”, and “Fashonable” for nothing. Yeah I’m a bit of a metrosexual Chosen, what can I say.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , , , on June 7, 2010 by theerivs

The Good….

So I went on a VOA 25 man pug  run this weekend, and the Sanctified Blood Mage pants dropped. I look at the raid, I’m the only Mage.  Score! Also geting closer to completing my PvP gear, I tried some other Specs, Fire/Arcane Shatter, but after a few hundred gold decided to stay Frost.

The Bad….

My WoW Guild on Horde side are a bunch of good guys and gals…but lately we are having attendence problems, and this is causing some friction. A couple of long time members left, because of it. We decided to rebuild. It’s funny how things work I signed up to this guild not expecting to raid, now I’m raiding like a mofo. The Bad thing is that this isn’t the only good guild suffering from attendence issues, and it reminds me of another guild I was in, Pre-BC killed that guild off dead.  It’s really a shame. I hope my guild can pull back from the brink from it.  If your looking for a new Horde Home let me know at cc0926(at)gmail(dot)com.

The Ugly…

All weekend I was trying to log onto Warhammer Online, and the Server kept kicking me off saying some Authentication error. I was too lazy(read hungover)  to invistigate, and/or try to fix it. I’ll look at it again tonight maybe the problem fixed itself.

I love Boobies so I went Pink for Tink

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on May 28, 2010 by theerivs

As a man born of a woman, and a father who has a mother (my grandmother). I joke and kid, and tongue and cheek say I love Boobies. Breast Cancer is a serious problem, and if it’s detected early it can be stopped. I love women, and you try to protect, safeguard, and help the ones you love.

Shadow tells the story better then I do. Here’s the original post.. More of Tinks Story in their own words….

I applaud Mythic for joining in to help the gaming community help spread the word, and show support for one of their own. The community really stepped up too, where everyone is spreading the news.

So with such a touching story, so for Mort, for Tink, and For Boobs. I went Pink.

Have to say this though…Pink Chosen is fierce… I work this shit.

My Ass is on Fire!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on May 26, 2010 by theerivs

Ok I took part in my first City Siege last night. First off on my way a Witch Hunter tried to take me on. I just wear him down, and crush him.

I enter the instance, and there’s like only 10 of us. I thought it cool there was the leader of Chaos, T’char’nzek (sp?) and some other imposing Chaos folks there waiting.  The gate opens, I do one objective, destroy siege, sapper runs out destroys the place. Then I continue forward to the Emperor’s circle.

Roughly about 50 order standing there….oh Poop!.  I’m dead. The next 15 minutes I run around trying to avoid the en masse of Order. One time I see a lone Bright Wizard…a squishy caster, I should be able to take him. He 2 shotted me. 2 Bullshit Shotted me, something ain’t right with that. Really 2 shots to take down a 10k health tank. Thanks Mythic.

So after Phase one I got my crests, I got out of the instance, and wanted to join another instance where I had a chance. Nope got the 15 minute lockout. What the hell? I logged.

I’m not saying it was bad, just my experience was bad. I do have to say one thing Performance was pretty good, no real lag to speak of. I can’t wait to get back in there with more of my Destro brethren and really give Order something to cry about….though one thing next time bring a fire extinguisher.

What a long strange trip it’s been…

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on May 25, 2010 by theerivs

I think I may be part gypsy, virtually as well as in  reality. I’ve moved like 7 times in my life, and in the virtual world I am quickly catching up.  Spinks posted something asking “How I found my guild”, I thought I would tell you my guild history….

I started playing MMO’s back in 2002 with Dark Age’s of Camelot. I was part of an FPS clan for Aliens versus Predators 2 called Hell’s Elite Legions. A fellow Predator  started a chapter for DAOC, and told me I should check it out. I did. We needed a cleric, so I volunteered, thus Riverian the Cleric was born on the Iseult server. I leveled up with HEL, and met some cool people like Geeno. One person I spent alot of time in the Battlegrounds was a pally called Celyn, she had a pension for dyeing herself teal, and me I liked purple. So we made quite a pair.

Well Hell’s Elites Legion broke up in DAOC after a few months, and I found myself guildless. I saw Celyn she said they could use a talented cleric in her guild Knights of the Red Dragon. I said sure. I joined them. After many adventures the guild imploded due to someone resting control of the guild who had no right to it. So I followed one of the best guild leaders I had Bitaken as well as most of the KotRD crew to a guild called Phoenix Ascension. Where we played happily for a while, where I met alot of great people Byll, Ash, Lestat, SirPerro, Sans, Whynot, Iben, Kain, and many more….. Alot of PA in 2003 went to Midgard, I didn’t feel like leveling another toon, so I stayed and told them I would be leaving PA, and went to Final Revelation for a bit, with my former guildmate Geeno, there I met Sloth, Kev, Jokerz, and many more there.

In 2004, I got into Beta for this game called World of Warcraft, since I loved the Warcraft series, I used to play Warcraft I when I was working in the computer lab in college so much it almost got me in trouble. So this is a dream come true. So I left DAOC, and went to WoW, then when the servers opened I created two toons, Riverian the Priest on Arthas, and Riverien the Paladin on Garona, both Alliance. On Arthas, some Final Rev people played and joined in a guild  called Black Dragon Clan which was a guild on Iseult as well, on Garona played some Phoenix Ascension people, where I leveled the Pallie. PA was fully formed, and Bitaken took the helm. I said good bye to Arthas and stuck to Garona exclusively. World PvP was the thing back then, and PA was one of the best. We rocked the Horde so much they hated us with a passion.

Then Battleground came out, and it changed the face of WoW PvP for good. Queue times for Alliance BG’s were Ridonkulous. So as a guild we decided to move to the Horde. Those were great times, I rolled an Orc Warrior named Rivgorian on Garona, Phoenix Ascension helping each other level, then when we were 60, we rolled the Alliance in AV’s, and then crushed Molten Core beneath our heels.  Then it all came to a halt. Alot of the core PA members got bored with WoW, and went back to DAOC. So PA dwindled. I made a decision to leave.

In late 2005, I rolled a mage called HeatScourge on Thunderlord, a Arcane/Fire mage. The new job I started had a few people play there. I joined there guild called Lords of Lager. As we hit 60, we wanted to raid, so we merged with another smaller guild called Kindred Spirits. A great raiding guild we burned through Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, AQ when that came out. Such great people like Legger, Gort, Sleepin, Preventer, HolySchnikes, and many many more.

Then Burning Crusades came, and with it’s smaller raids really put pressure on Kindred Spirits, we dissolved from the pressures and went our seperate ways…

Alot of the Phoenix Ascension crew were back on Garona, so I went back to the Warrior and Tanking full time. We didn’t have the numbers we once did so we merged with a guild called Oppress. The leader of Oppress was a tyrannical despot, so Bitaken left MMO’s for good, most of us left Oppress and went back to Phoenix Ascension, later reforming as a guild called Blight which is still doing pretty good from what I hear. Now as I was tanking, I leveled a Horde Mage. By the time Wrath came I was so sick of Tanking, and everything that went along with it. I left Blight, and made my mage a loner..

In the meantime I started playing Warhammer Online. a bunch of old Phoenix Ascension people went to a Guild called Einherjar, and we had some great times in WAR. Until things started to get bad in WAR, alot left to play Lord of the Rings, while some mergered with an old alliance guild Jaded Souls, whom ironically I ran with alot. I was the only Einherjar toon in a Lost Vale group for Jaded Souls.

I decided to play WoW again, and a fellow Blogger talked me into joining the Alliance with the New Faction Changes, and I did. I moved my Mage there a dubbed him Frostscourge. I joined a guild of other bloggers called Brotherhood of Oblivion. It was great, and I met some great friends, well we merged with another guild which caused some growing pains, as well as my War on Role Playing goddess Too Many Anna’s I decided to go back to my beloved Horde.

I was back on Horde side, and before I payed 25 bucks to go back to Garona, I thought why don’t I make a go of it here. I do enjoy a PvP server, from my glory days of magedom on Thunderlord. So I went to the forums, and found a guild that was recruiting. I seen them around, and I wondered if they had any connections to the Black Dragon Clan. They didn’t it was just a coincidence. I joined as a social member, I had no plans to get back to raiding. Well I saw they were hurting for numbers cause of summer blues, and expansion duldrums, so I stepped up and started signing up for raids.  They are some great players, really know their stuff. Have a great sense of guild and faction pride which was what I was looking for.  I am enjoying myself so much that my ideas of going Worgen when expansion comes out are dissipating.

I also picked up WAR again and am playing with Jaded Souls, and having a good time with some old friends again.

Well I guess I could of saved you some time, and told you  the short answer is I always got my guilds through friends online or real life, and once through the forums, and I got lucky with that….but that would be no fun for me. :)
