Nothing Like a Little Tease.

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on September 30, 2011 by theerivs

I remember this girl back in high school, she would make out with me, and grind on me but when it came to thee deed, she always stopped me. My friend called her a cock tease.

Yesterday I got a couple emails from Star Wars: The Old Republic stating stuff about the Beta, and they wanted my opinion of the Beta. I was freaking out. Did I get invited, and accidentally delete the invite, I checked my Spam. Nothing.  I think I almost cried think I deleted the invite.  Now I found out that these emails we’re accidentally sent out to every potential beta tester, not to actual beta testers.

Now I know what virtual Blue Balls feels like.

That’s not me Roleplaying

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on August 16, 2011 by theerivs

Some one asked me, “Are you roleplaying a Sith?”  I replied, “No, I’m really an asshole in real life”  I’m probably the closest thing to being a Sith in real life that you can be, without actually being a Sith, Let me explain.

1. Only a Sith deals in absolutes.  – I am an idealist, as an idealist I have clear notions of good, and bad and other ideals. Sometimes with me there is no middle ground.

2. Peace is a lie – I have a tattoo of Chaos on my shoulder, and I always say there is no rest for the wicked.

3. Power Hungry – Why do you think I went into Computers, there is power there. People keep secrets on their computers, and phones. You have control over their secrets, you have power over them.

4. Evil is a point of view – Life is all about perception, and what is evil for you, may just be good for me. I also align myself with evil, because it allows you to be free, and to explore things being good doesn’t allow you to explore.

5. I am not a Hypocrite – Alot of people say they are good, and behind closed doors they do more depraved things, then I could even imagine.

6. Generous when it suits my purpose - I am a generous person when you are my good side, and a vicious monster when  you are on my bad side.  The Emperor helps Anakin Skywalker, and even revives him. Sure for his own purposes but he still saved the guys life.

7. I know the value of strength -  Being a big guy, and a bouncer giving a show of force, or strength sometimes wins the day. Through Strength, comes power.

Sure I’m not going to be walking all over the place slicing people down, but I’m sure as hell going to be doing that in game. Fear will be my ally.

May the Fourth Be With You!

Here at High Latency Life, We are not just about video games, we’re all about being a nerd. Nothing says nerd like Star Wars.

“Peace is a lie, there is only Passion”  from the Sith Code

Star Wars is definitely a passion of mine. Star Wars came out in 1977, I remember seeing it  in my Pajamas at a Drive In.  Then when I saw Empire Strikes Back.  I was hooked. The Star Wars Universe is a rich and vibrant playground, which I enjoy alot.

One can nit pick about the stupid Ewoks, or that douchebag Jar Jar. Overall though Star Wars itself is Epic. I mean I read the books, and play some of the video games. Speaking of games, there are alot of good Star Wars games, and some not so good, but lets talk about some of my favorite video games in the Star Wars genre that have affected my life.

5. Empire Strikes Back – (Atari 2600) – basically just your snow speeder attacking AT-AT’s but it was my first Star Wars game, and I spent alot of hours playing this side scroller.

4. Force Unleashed (PC/Console)- Just a great game, the combat, storyline. Only thing is sometimes the camera angles are shitty, but other wise nothing like swinging your lightsaber in the game. I’m still playing this game, when I finish definitely moving to Force Unleashed 2.

3. Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kai (Playstation) – The only Star Wars fighting game I ever played, and there were many times me and my brother battled me being Darth Vader, and him being Luke. Then all my friends, and even cousin got into the action. There were some Epic battles back in the day.

2. Tie Fighter (PC) – A Tie Fighter simulator, oh my god this game was great. Letting me fight for the Empire for which I adore. For the time the graphics were awesome, and the storyline was pretty damn good. This game was ahead of its time.

1. Knights of the Old Republic (PC/Console) – This game had a great storyline, morality choices, and even a smartass evil robot what more could you want. I enjoyed every second of the game, and the sequel as well.

Is it any wonder I look forward to the Star Wars MMO?

May the Force Be With You!

The Force is Strong with This One

Tobold wants to know my expectations for this game.  To be honest they are high. Do I think it’s the “Jesus” of all MMO’s….No I don’t.

In terms of game play and graphics I expect WoW quality. What I do have high hopes is to get immersed in Star Wars Lore. To have faction pride once more. To play a Sith, and know that the Jedi are my enemy. To be proud of what I am, and seethe with hatred for the other faction.

Once upon a time in Dark Ages of Camelot, I played Albion, I hated the Hibbies, and Middies with a passion that seemed like obsession. I use to get up for 3am raids on a Saturday or Sunday morning (or stayed up *wink*). Now that’s fricking hardcore.  I want that feeling back.  On the new Sith Video Progression. The Sith marauder had me cheering almost.

Am I on the Hype train, probably but I’ve been here before with Warhammer Online, and I still love most of that game the problem is Mythic messed up somehow, and imploded. I still have a deep seated love for the game, and must resist the urge to reup once in awhile.

All in all, from what I’m seeing Bioware put out, it’s looking pretty good, and I like what I’m seeing.  Bottomline will it be the second coming, no, but I do think it will be a good game.

RIFT is nice….but…

Do not get me wrong, I like RIFT alot. It’s a good solid game…but I have my eye on Star Wars. Yes I am fully ensnared by the hype perhaps, and I don’t care.

I must admit, I do get hyped real easy. I got super hyped for Warhammer Online. In the end playing that game was  like having a total bitch for a girlfriend, but you put up with her cause she can suck a golf ball through a garden hose.  I mean I had great fun PvPing, but that’s all I did.

Reasons I’m getting hyped.

1. Playing as a Sith - Any game I get to play as a Lawful Evil bastard like me, I’m already giddy like a little school girl.

2. Story Telling – Putting some immersion into the MMORPG, I think will be a good thing.

3. Bioware – Don’t know if you know this, but Bioware has a pretty good track record

4. Star Wars - Yeah it’s Light Saber Throwing, TaunTaun Riding, AT&AT Smashing Star Mother Fucking Wars…Nuff said.

A Real Sith Guild

Scary decided to fold shop of the Hill People, and I can’t blame him. Leading a guild takes hard work, dedication, and a thick skin.

I was thinking of a new model of guild for SWTOR. Well we play Sith, why not a guild if you think your current leadership is shitty, and that you can do a better job, have the ability to take that job.

A guild where if you want to be a guild leader, you challenge him to a duel. You win you are the new guild leader. If you lose you get knocked back to the lowest rank. If the guild leader loses he gets knocked down to a normal member. I envision this working for officer ranks as well. Of course there will be more rules, like level consideration, month lockouts between duels, etc.

I think it would add an extra dynamic to our game, and guild. Then again it might create some hatred as well, but hate makes you powerful.

The Sith

Peace is a lie. There is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
—Darth Bane, Dark Lord of the Sith

I will be playing a Sith when Star Wars:The Old Republic comes out. I am excited because I enjoy the Sith as a faction, because let’s just say I believe in their mode of thinking. What I am hoping for in the upcoming MMO.

1. Immersion – Bioware are supposed to be some good story tellers. I think Immersion lets me feel part of the virtual world I am, and makes me feel like I’m making a difference. I remember back in Dark Ages of Camelot days stealing relics for our realm really made me feel apart of something. I wanted to wake up 3am on a Sunday to be a part of it. I think the Voice Acting will go a long way with this as well.

2. PvP - I enjoy PvP, and being a Sith means killing mofoes, so I want the fights, fast and furious like the movies. Whirling red blades of death cutting a swath through our foes.

3. Cool Fluff – Cool looking armor, lightsabers, vehicles, droids. etc..etc…

4. A Sense of Community – The game can not really do this, but I hope that a good Community does arise from this. Warhammer Online has a great community, and I would like that sense of it with this game as well. Back in the old Vanilla days of World of Warcraft the Horde had a great sense of Community as well.

5. No Roleplaying Rule Set Servers – I know, I know but a man can dream can’t he.

The Sith Code

Over at Gamespot they did a Q&Aat Bioware. And some of my brethren bloggers are divided on how they feel about this.

I think the biggest source of conflict is Sith being merciful, or doing acts of goodness. Since this is a class I am going to play, I find it interesting that it is more the one dimensional of killing.

I look at the code of Sith, and no where it says to kill everything in sight. Sure the methods are ruthless, and heavy handed. But Sith are not animals, nor are they barbaric.

Let us examine the Sith for a minute. The Sith are not mirror images of Jedi. Sometimes they are more similar to them then Jedi would like to admit.  The difference lies in how the Sith and Jedi attain their goals. The Sith like the Jedi are trying to attain perfection, through power, through victory. Victory over ones enemies, but not the wholesale devastation of everything around them. If Darth Sidious killed everything around him he would not have an empire to lead would he?

Why can’t I let someone live if they serve no purpose? Why can I not let one live, and show mercy if it fits into my plan to later use them to my benefit? Why can I not feed the young to make them earn my trust, and have them fight for me?  Good and Evil are a point of view. To a Sith’s view compassion is a tool to be used to achieve ones goals. Sure more then likely if you are an obstacle, your a dead man and there will be no compassion for you.  The ultimate goal of the Sith is to free oneself from restrictions, to be free through power, and strength.

In terms of this game, I am excited that Bioware is trying something different, and doesn’t want to make one dimensional characters to try to inject story into a MMORPG. The more I read about it, the more hyped I’m getting. Which I know I got burnedbefore.  In World of Warcraft I saw inkling of these types of things with the Death Knight quest line, I wish they went further, gave you more choice, and consequence.

I think if Bioware pulls off what they are telling us, I think were in for a great game.
