Echo Isles Liberation

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on September 8, 2010 by theerivs

Well we must be drawing near to Cataclysm, cause the devs are ramping up the live events.

So I got an in-game mail from a troll. Ya mon, the trolls need your help taking back the Echo Isles…. So here is what it entails, and then give you my thoughts.

What you need to do…

1. Go to Senjin Village.

2. Talk to someone and fetch frogs. (Good Luck with this one since, everyone and their mother are here)

3. Ride a bat and toss frogs.

4. Become a Were-tiger, and fight a tiger.

5. Talk to someone, and watch a dance.

6. Join a huge battle against the evil of Echo Isles.

What you get…

An Achievement, some gold about 60, which is good for the time invested, and an item that turns you into a troll.

My Thoughts…

I don’t know I thought of something a little more epic. Catching frogs really?  The battle was a little cool, but the dialogue was pure stupidity, and when these mask “spirits”  joined the fight, I was like, “GTFO” from the sheer moronic of it.

I think they could have done a better job, and this little bit has me a tad frightened as to what Cataclysm will bring to the table.

Shawty Fire Burning on the Dance Floor

Posted in Gaming, MMORPG with tags , , , on August 5, 2010 by Bee

So this is what I woke up to this morning…

I open the door to let my dog out to pee and in wafts something foul.

The picture in the article reminds me of something straight out of Cataclysm.

Smoky, Burning Grime

Smoldering, Quillboar Swine

With this inspiration I found myself on YouTube this morning, soaking up all the cataclysm beta footage I could get my eyes on. What excites me the most? That the dances for the Male Worgen and the Male/Female Goblin have been released. I seriously cannot wait to make my Goblin Priest and have her do the “Single Ladies” dance. Yes, I am a loser.

I dance constantly with my Priest and I have grown to truly hate looking at the Blood Elf female dance.  She looks like a goddamn stripper. The male goblin dance is also fantastic. I’m dissapointed that Blizzard has yet to release the Female Worgen dance. I wanna know how Young Worgsteshire is going to be busting moves. Suggestions? Yeah, I’ve got one. When I tried searching for “official” news on what the dance may be, all I found were people saying it may be based on Shakira’s dance for her song Loba (“She-Wolf” for those that hate pressing 1 for English).  I say please no.  If the dancing in that video isn’t actual stripping, then I don’t know what is.

I also am looking forward to the changes surrounding the battleground system. I seriously have no understanding of how the battleground queue system works nowadays. All I know is it gets mighty unpredictiable if you ever attempt to queue with a group larger than 5. The other night we were queueing up with 7. We got into a Warsong Gulch in 2 minutes and after a raging victory requeued immediately. The next queue time was 58 minutes. Luckily, we had a long Eye of the Storm battle to hold us over. How in the hell does it go from 2 minutes to 58 minutes?

Just like a Prayer

Lately, like a lot of others, I’ve been feeling a bit of burnout.  The only thing I find myself excited to do in-game is the daily random battleground.

Oh, and wait for my mysterious egg to hatch into a green proto-drake. Of course the hatching only occurs once every week.

The last two weeks worth of eggs have hatched into aged yolk.

So, atleast I’ve got that going for me.

I think it a mix of stale content in-game and the fact that many of my guild members have gone on hiatus until fall/cataclysm.  I’m not upset about it, I’ll just use this time to finish up the Argent Tournament questline (besting bitches all over Icecrown) and hopefully stack enough gold and mats to be comfortable when cataclysm comes around.  (Can’t wait to make my troll druid!).

I found some videos online via TankSpot zone previewing the new landscape of cataclysm. The changes to Orgrimmar look pretty cool.  That’s actually the only one I looked at, because I want to be surprised and shocked and awed when I can navigate through it myself.  If anyone else is interested though, there’s a link for you.

Lastly, I found this gem of gems the other day and thought I’d share.

I always suspected Obama played a priest.

Cataclysm now less Cataclysmic

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on June 14, 2010 by theerivs

She's Cataclysmic!

What was going to rip the world of WoW asunder, and be cataclysmic might just be a little rumble and business as usual. After reading Larisa and Syp. It got me thinking as to why I play WoW, and what I am looking for in Cataclysm.

Why do I, and have I played this game for 5+ years?

1. People - I came to WoW not only because I love World of Warcraft RTS, cause I do. It’s cause alot of my old guildies from DAOC came across, and I just keep making new friends, and having fun with them.

2. Ease of Use – I can hop on, and do a Strat run in 30 minutes,a quick Wintergrasp, or even a quick random Dungeon or BG. Doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment.

3. Humor- There’s a little humor built into, and even poking fun of the kiddies, and noobs is kind of fun. Like the other day someone yelled “Looking for a 3 person mount?”  It struck as odd, but I couldn’t resist….I yelled back, “Your Mom!” Though the quests are sometimes funny, and once in awhile I come across a little easter egg, and laugh.

4. Investment – Now I invested so much into WoW, and my toon. I’m like near top of my game. I’m not the best, I know that, but I am no slouch either. I pull 5k dps with Frost…that’s mad skillz.

5. Gold - I like the AH game a bit. I like finding things to make gold on, and making it. I came to the Horde in April with 500 gold, now I’m closing in on 20k…and to me that’s pretty damn cool, but I want more. Gevlon would be proud, I enjoy earning gold, and though I’m not an inscriptionist, I still do pretty well for myself.

What do I expect from Cataclysm -

1. New and More people to do more stuff – Good thing about expansions, people take interest again. Right now my guild is scrapping for people to put together raids.

2. New places to explore - I guess I am a little bit of an explorer, I appreciate the hard work devs do to build this world, and I enjoy taking a look around, and seeing what they did. Now that I’m 80, I love roaming old, low level dungeons to look at things I missed, the little details. I run Strat daily almost, but I am always finding something new, like “oh there’s a book I can read there”

3. New chance to try something different- I am leveling a pally tank, and I just may go back to my tanking roots

4. New adventures - I’m on a newer server, with new friends…I’m looking forward in facing the new content with them.

5.  New Toys – Yeah they took away Path of the Titans, but there’s going to be some new toys to play with, especially with mages, and the time stop thing.

So yea Blizzard back tracked a bit, but I’m still looking forward to the expansion.

Shaman Tears Taste Like Sweet Honey To My Lips

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on April 14, 2010 by theerivs

Well I’m not going to beat over the head all the mage changes, I’ll let others do that for me.  The thing I want to do is go over this new spell. Time Warp..

Grants a passive Haste effect much like Bloodlust or Heroism to party or raid members. It also temporarily increases the mage’s own movement speed. Time Warp will be exclusive with Bloodlust and Heroism, meaning you can’t benefit from both if you’ve got the Exhaustion debuff, though the movement-speed increase will still work even when under the effects of Exhaustion.

Shaman’s are QQ’ing that Mage’s will be taking their job. Well to them I say….FUCK YOU!

I went from being needed in a raid, Scorch debuff/Food/Portal.  to being a minor side note with a raid.

Since don’t need Scorch Debuff anymore, and with Arcane the flavor of the day.

To everyone tossing down fish feasts, don’t really need food all that much either.

Then portals being all over, and hearthstone only 30 minutes….who the hell needs a portal these days? I use to be able to make 100g a day on portals easy, now I’m lucky if I make 10g.

Me, personally I am excited over Time Warp, sure it won’t be like Max Payne’s Bullet Time, and I’m flying around the screen shooting two warnds, but one can dream, can’t one.

Some of these mage changes has me excited, and really all you Shamans who don’t like it, go eat a dick!

Countdown to Cataclysm – 2 Dollar Horde

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on April 5, 2010 by theerivs

That’s one of my favorite guild names, The 2 Dollar Horde.  With Cataclysm soon approaching, and me being bored with not raiding. I made one of those them there executive decisions.  I decided to go back to the Horde with my mage. Why?

~ Well I figured a skilled DPS would fare better in a community that is a little more starved for players.

~ My baby tank who will be alliance, will be enough to gear out my Worgen when it becomes time.

~ I’m sick of running Strat for my Undead horse.

- I miss the Horde feeling of WoW. I can’t put my finger on it. Sure you have your arsehats (we call them Blood Elves), but everyone seems tighter, more like a brotherhood over on the horde.

- Forsaken Rock, I love the Lore, and the flavor of the Forsaken. Outcasts eternal.

So yeah my mage is now a Forsaken, and I have a decision to make, stay on Azgalor, or go back home to Garona. I might want to stay on the PvP server, and it would be so cool to kill some BoO for fun. Muhahaha

Hit Me Baby One more Time!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on February 8, 2010 by theerivs

Ok my brain is rebelling cause Saints won the Super Bowl, WHO DAT?  I am glad they won, that region of the States need some help, and plus any team that once was coached by the man himself Mike Ditka is a team for me. So I downed alot whiskey yesterday so I can not really think to straight, and I can get over this lame crap with Blizz…well…hold on….I gotta do something first…

*Spoiler Alert*~ Though I’m sure you know by now, unless your living under a rock, I don’t mean to offend anyone if you do live under a rock. I just know internet is rough to get there.

So Arthas is dead. Some douchebag is now Lick King. Really?  Ok it pisses me off more and more that I think about it….The most prolific villian in the World of Warcraft…they just killed off.

The question is why? To start fresh?  How far off is Cataclysm?

This is the problem with Blizz expansions, the game goes through a lull, burnout will set in with the veterens. Guilds will explode over drama, because of boredom. Server landscapes will change, and raiders will stop raiding as much.

Before Burning Crusade, before Wrath, I’ve been here before, this feels like the I’ve been here, done that type of thing.

I’ll wait though, and bide my time. Collecting my gold, and consumables. Getting ready for the next best thing. Until….BAM!

Time to grind up 5 more levels…time to disenchant all my gear….and time to hit me baby one more time!

WoW: You Are Not Prepared!!!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on August 25, 2009 by theerivs

Illidan-Stormrage-warglaiveWhen Illidan first uttered these words, he was right I wasn’t at the time. This time it’s going to be different. Ok I’m going to be generous, and say we got a year until the new expansion, possibly more know Blizzard.

Lets take a look at some of the things.

1. Financial

Crafting is going to change forever.

I’m a tailor, they pretty much killed me with the new instance, what clothie will buy an ebonweave robe for 1000g when they can get one for 20 minutes work in the Trials.

Enchanting, if stats are gone how will this change the landscape. I’m going to try to make as much money as I can. Along with Jewelcrafting, this profession is going to be hosed too.

Should I start buying Intell gems now when they are super cheap? I think I might.

I don’t know the state of Blacksmithing, or LW, but I think their going to be almost same boat Tailoring is.

So to prepare myself, I’m going to start stockpiling scroll enchants that buff basic stats, like Intell, Agil, and Strength, I will also dedicate myself to stockpiling the specialty cloth (Ebonweave/Spellweave/Ect.)   When the expansion starts drawing nearer, and comes out. Stockpile on Bags…new alts means HUGE demand for bags.

2. Badges/Honor/Gold

Just Stockpiling everything, make sure I am honor capped, and badge capped when Expansion hits. Limit Purchases to bare essentials…and that damn egg, that I waste every week. Where’s my damn proto-drake you bastages.

3. Old Content, and Alt Leveling.

I want to pick a realm and level an Alliance toon on it, so that when the expansion hits if I want to try the Worgen, I won’t be hurting for resources. This way I can also take a look at some old content, take screenies, and say one last farewell to it. Funny as I make fun of Worgen mages, but as a race choice (after looking at the transformation video) They are starting to grow on me. I think a Worgen Warrior would be HOT!

4. Talent/Spec of my Main Mage.

Staying Arcane, because it looks like were going to get some love, and staying Frost, because with my current build Stacking Haste, I’ve been rocking out 3k dps, or pretty damn close to it. which is pretty dang good for frost.

5. Raiding/5 man

Hit the 5 man’s start badgeing up, and as for Raids do it as time permits, but my main goal will acquire badges.

6. PvP -

More…ALOT more.

Sure as Larissa says, it is quite some time away, but I want to be prepared this time.  I don’t want to give Illidan anything to bitch about….

WoW: Cataclysm

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on August 24, 2009 by theerivs

Ironic virtual life, and reality sometimes collide. Thursday my Stepfather had a stroke, forever changing the landscape of my life. A Great Raiding guild’s leader extended an offer to me to join his guild, he reads my blog, and is a fan.  I was deeply honored, but since I am a man of my word I do not take my commitments lightly, as I was mulling over the offer, the tragedy struck.  As I was dealing with this family crisis I came to realize the time I once had may not be there anymore. I had to decline his offer. It broke my heart, but my family comes first above and beyond any game. I hope he understands.

Well as I reading that the face of Azeroth, like my life will be changing drastically. I looked at some of the changes, some I just shirked as meh, others I was like , “WHA??”

I think the biggest is the gear changes, and since I play a mage the biggest is spellpower, mana regeneration, and haste. They are removing spellpower, and MP5. Intelligence and Spirit will now be dictating this, and haste now only affects resource regeneration, like mana will regen faster with better haste.

Well this pissed me off big time, so why am I spending thousands of gold on gems, and enchants when in a short year away it will be useless. I feel sorry for JC’s, this will also effect their business I’m sure. Oh hey no more theory crafting, bye bye such wonderful sites as Elitist Jerks.  Will this be a sticking point of not to play like Critical QQ, no I think not, but it will effect my gold management of future purchases on gems and the like.  I do hate Hit Rating, please remove that stat as well.

Some things really kill me though,

1. Worgen Mages…Are you serious, a wolf in a dress. Will we be waiting for Little Red Riding hood as well. I really weep for my class of choice.

2. Guild Leveling System – Can you say, rip off of WAR, I think I can. This will also crush the smaller guilds, it will change the landscape of guilds of the server of our choice of this is no doubt.

3. Cross server LFG – So I can PUG, and see asshats that can’t stay out of the fire, from different servers. Awesome.

There’s alot of things going bye bye when the new expansion goes live, the nostalgic in me will be sorry to see it go, but part of me looks forward to this new chapter, and new challenges, which in the real world there will be challenges for me, most of them I am not looking forward to at all.
