WoW - Good News everyone, the slime pipes are working again……LOL!

Seriously though my Prot Pally is inching towards 80, she’s 79 now, and where she belongs Horde side.  I am impressed what a farming machine the little lady is. A fine addition to the Riv family.

Making gold, and gearing out my pally are my top priorities….maybe leveling my whorelock…too.

Other Games – GW2 is really looking good, and Star Wars of course with space combat is really getting me hyped up.

The major problem is with the pictures of the girls I post. She brought up the recent game Tera, and put me on the same level as them. Which irked me, at the same time I see her point.  I am really getting tired of all the “sexism in gaming” posts, and I think Gevlon hit the nail on the head.

First my thoughts on Tera…

Yes I post pictures of scantily clad girls on my blog, but they are there to accent, or add to the blog. Like Frosting on the cake. Some people don’t like frosting, that’s ok. Tera is blatantly selling their sexism. The girl runs her skirt comes up. I don’t like gimmicks, and it smells like gimmicks. Remember a game called Age of Conan, it sold itself as a mature game, but I didn’t feel the sexism as overtly as Tera.  Tera, like Evony tries to sell sex to lure the immature, and kiddies into playing it. Sometimes it works, like AoC. the numbers were huge when it opened, but despite the big breasts there wasn’t much there to keep a player playing.  Tera, and the way it represents itself speaks volumes on how the game it is.

Product of my Enviroment….

I come from a place that was a little bit more real then some of the usual gamers are used to. While you were home watching home movies in seventh grade, I was wondering the streets kicked out of my house…When you were planning keggers, i was planning robberies…When you were laying in your bed playing Playstation, I was laying on a cot in jail….  I associated myself with drug dealers, gangsters, gamblers, thieves, and other ne’er do wells. These sub-cultures do not look highly on women.  I lived this life for alot of years, until I decided to change, to evolve, to crawl out of the gutter and want more for, and from myself.  It’s not an excuse, but I want you the reader to know where I am coming from.  In lollipop land, where gum drops rain upon you yeah things should be fair, but where I come from where I had to beat a man to make sure I don’t look like a victim…things aren’t always fair, and right in life, I reflect that life, so neither am I.

The lesser of two evils, but still part of the problem….

I can sit here, and tell you that every picture has something to do with the story I am trying to tell you. I was thinking about it, even though it does. In my first video gaming blog I rarely had pictures, so why now do I. When I first started HLL, I had a picture of a hot girl, I noticed it got attention from alot of my readers who were male. Perhaps the wrong type of attention, but attention none the less. I always say I’m not in it for the numbers, but lets face facts I still like when people pay attention to me. I am a self-proclaimed attention whore. Let’s not mince words. Yes I’m part of the problem. Yes I am sexist, which the definition is I view the genders in typical gender roles. A Woman should be a woman, and man should be a man, now what that actually entails as to what a man is, and what women are a topic for another time.  Being a sexist, isn’t the same as being a misogynist, that means you hate women. I definitely do not hate women…well specific ones maybe a tad.

I am not a good writer….

I never claimed to be. I never claimed to be some awesome writer, if you want Yeats, please go look elsewhere. My goal of this blog is to entertain, whether be from the writing, or a picture. I want to take 5 minutes of your time and hope you enjoy your stay here. Sure I have an occasional post that makes you think, or get angry, or sad, or angry….yeah I know I said angry twice, and sometimes I’m sure you’re like River just posted crap today. In my mind’s eye most of it is crap, but a my daddy said, “Toss enough crap against the wall, something is bound to stick”    Someone suggested to write less, take my time to come up with more poignant stuff. I believe the brain is a muscle, it needs to be worked out. Sometimes I have a good work out, I sweat, I’m in pain the next day, I feel good. Sometimes I have a bad workout, I didn’t sweat or push myself hard enough.  It is said by a famous writer, “A Writer Writes, and that’s what I try to do.” I write for myself, your just along for the ride.

I one time called myself,  “I am a mixture of Kenny Powers, Eminem, Ron Jeremy with the body of John Candy”. I also jokingly called this site a porn site, that writes about games.  I have no illusions of grandeur, I am here standing for everyone to judge. For those that love me, I love you right back, and I’m willing to go to war for you. Those that hate me, bring it, cause your hate makes me powerful.  I play evil, or supposedly evil races in most games. Horde, Chaos, soon to be Sith, etc. etc…. Cause every story needs a villain. Every story needs an antagonist. Way too many good guys in the blogosphere. I am not one of them. There’s a difference between being a douchebag though, and being a bad guy.

A post by the beloved Scarybooster has inspired me to talk about this particular topic.

So, as you may or may not know, I am a single woman.  I have been single now for over a year.  My last relationship lasted 4+ years and was with a non-gamer.  Well, I shouldn’t say non-gamer – he did like to play guitar hero. 0_0

When we were dating, I never shared with him that I enjoyed video games.  We met playing poker at a local bar that put on weekly poker tournaments, so it’s not like he didn’t know I had interest in games – I just never shared that part of my life with him.  During the time we met I was playing Heroes of Might and Magic pretty regularly, highly involved in the current commission that I was on.  We didn’t spend every night together, and the nights I was free I would always boot up the comp and get in a few hours of playtime. 

After a year of dating, he asked me to move in with him.  After hesitation (and threats of disownment by my father) I obliged him.  My computer was one of the first things I was concerned about getting hooked up.  After the moving dust had settled, I attempted to get back into some of my old living habits in my new environment – one of which was my few nights a week gaming. 

It upset him so much. 

I don’t know why he let it bother him so much.  I think when women get upset at their men for gaming it’s mostly to do with attention (or a lack thereof).  The women feels neglected by the man and does not want to have to share time with some video game.  We all know when we are gaming that outside stimulus can often be ignored.  I can remember one night I was raiding with my guild, right after we had started raiding ICC, and it was our 2nd attempt ever on Saurfang.  My roommate starts in with a story about work and I found myself doing the “uh-huh, oh really?, ok” shuffle.  I couldn’t tell you anything about that convo today – well, other than I’m fairly sure it had to do with her job. 

This wasn’t my ex’s problem though.  He took issue with the fact that I was even interested in playing video games.  He thought they were worthless and dorky.  He told me that he couldn’t believe how much I played video games. (Mind you we are talking 2-3 nights a week for a couple of hours).  One night he actually told me that he thought it was really unattractive.  And I made the decision to stop playing. 

It disgusts me to this day that I made that choice.  I mean, if he wanted me to stop playing because it was taking away from the time we got to spent together, and he was feeling neglected by me, that would have been a totally different story.  That I could have sympathized with.  Instead, I let him get under my skin.  He made me feel bad for wanting to play a video game.  He was an asshole.  Plain and simple.

Anyways… enough thinking about that douchenozzle. 

Now that I am out and dating again, I wonder how/when I should share my love of gaming with a potential mate.  When do people normally do that?  There is at least one thing I know – I won’t be waiting until we move in together for this sort of information to be shared.  There is honestly part of me that thinks it would be quite embarrassing to talk about it during a date, though.

Sexy Date: “So, Bee, what do you like to do?”

Bee: *flirty smile* “Well, I play guitar, I love watching movies, I take a cardio kickboxing class and I’m working on 25-man hardmode progression through the IceCrown Citadel with my guild PWNDEMNUBS.”

Sexy Date: “…..”

So do I limit myself to only dating those that also game?  That would certainly help with any embarrassing feelings or explaining.  It also would be nice to have someone to game with.  (or “game” with)

At the end of the day though, I have positive feelings about it.   Maybe I should look at Gaming Acceptance as sort of a filter for douchebags? 

I know when the right guy comes along, he’ll accept/love me just the way I am.   Hell, if he treats me good enough, I might even let him beat me in a duel.

Anyway so I decided to level up a Warlock to see what the hell all the hub bub was about, and to see exactly why Mages hate Warlocks. I know I might be shunned by my Mage Brethren, but you know what my Paladin is nearing 80, (turned 79), and I need another project. Tons of  tokens means I’m going to get some BOA’s. I got enough BOA’s for several classes now. I also saw that really there aren’t that many Warlocks around anymore, and I am curious as to why.

Creation –

I went with Orc, cause just the duality of a big burly cloth wearer intriques me. I may switch him to Goblin race once that is available.

Levels 1 to 5-

Usual beginning zone crap, nothing unusual, from my earlier Warlocks I tried I noticed that no more hard ass imp quest to get my demon, and you don’t have to train a demon anymore it appears. Sooo they made an easy class….real easy. Nice.

The Pimping –

Yea loaded up my Warlock – BOA staff/chest/shoulders – Enchanted where I could. Tons of Bags, and yea 400gold. My Lock has just been pimped!

Levels 5 to 10 -

This is where the Warlock really starts to get easy. I think I was taking out Harpies 3 levels higher then me with out breaking a sweat. I never ate or drank, just killed, and killed some more. Immolate>Corruption>Curse of Agony> Shadow Bolt x2 = Dead Mob.  I don’t think I even Life Tapped that much.

To Do List -

Blueberry - I have to get my Blueberry now that I’m ten. I wonder if it’s still viable tactic to send Blueberry out, DOT UP the Mobs, and wand the shit out of things.

Spec - Is Affliction still the way to level?  How is Demonology?

Professions – I was thinking Mining, and Jewelcrafting, or Herbing and Inscription. With the changes to Glyphs coming, don’t think Inscription is going to be as popular a money maker as it was.

By the way the Warlock movies weren’t half bad….ok they were so bad, they were almost good.

It all started with the Atari 2600, it was a gift for Christmas and there are countless hours logged onto that playing games like Pitfall, Robotank, and Adventure. I think what started my passion for PvP, and Multiplaying Games was a little game called Combat. Crushing my Older Brother at in this medium gave me great thrills, cause he was bigger, older, and usually beat me at everything else.

Then I graduated to the Commodore 64, where I fell in love with RPG’s such as Bards Tale, Ultima,  Gold Box Series like Pool of Radiance, and Might and Magic. I would stay up to the wee hours of the early night playing games such as these. To my parents chagrin the modem opened up a whole world for me, and things like Chat Rooms, and BBS’s where I discovered a whole world is out there.

The Arcade was a big part of my life, as I dumped quarters into games like Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat, but never straying from the classics like Donkey Kong, Defender, and Asteroids. Where you look down the list and see RIV as the initials. I also was pretty good at Pinball. One of my favorite was a Pinball machine called Funhouse, which years later Mr. Bungle (One of my favorite bands) would have sound clips from this pinball machine in one of their songs. One of my favorite quotes from this Pinball game was, “Go grab yourself a Hot Dog!”   As I battle my way to domination at the local Arcades, things were changing all around me.

The PC gaming era was upon us soon enough, and I played games like Wing Commander, and Eye of the Beholder. Which gradually led to games like Warcraft: Orcs versus Humans, then led too Starcraft, Quake, and Unreal Tournament. Where I could hear the scream of my enemies across the way from me via LAN.

These are just some of the games I played, that forged me into the gamer I am,and as I look forward to games such as Guild Wars 2, and Star Wars: TOR….and it makes me realize that the graphics may get flashier, and things get more complicated in the end it boils down to one thing.    A game needs to be more then fun, it needs to create memories. Then it will live on in the hearts, and minds of gamers and truly become legendary.

Great song…Well I cancelled Star Trek Online again. It’s not a bad game, and there’s alot I like about it…it’s just not enough of what I wanted . I was looking for epic space battles, awesome camaradie with other Klingons, epic story lines…I really didn’t get any of that.  So I cancelled.

To be honest I didn’t skin that leather I bought it for 12g a stack, sold for over 18 a stack. For 5 seconds work I made roughly 50 – 60g.

I just don’t get how people don’t have gold….it’s so easy nowadays. I remember to get my first mount, I had to scrap and sell pets. I was one of the first people to port over Rabbits to the Horde (Thanks to some helpful guildies) There’s ton’s of ways to make gold, ya just got to put in a little effort.

Look for these items on the Auction House of people undercutting, and sell for profit in other words Flipping.

It started when I was just putzing about, someone was selling Imperial Manta Steaks for 20g a stack of 20. Hello, I hopped on that right away. I picked up 5 stacks for 20g, and sold them for roughly a little over 100g a piece.

Then I noticed someone selling Scrolls of Enchant -Crusader for a real low price, I picked them up for a steal at 140g, and flipped them for 180g-250g depending on the market, either way still pure profit.

I also picked up a ton of Frostweave Bags for 50-60g range and flipped those for 70g-80g range.

I supplemented that with Copper selling, Copper Bars were selling for 20g, ore was selling for 15g. I would buy the ore, and smith it and turn it around and sell it. Not to mention farming the ore myself, as well as Light Leather selling for 17g a stack. That alone would of netted me a few hundred gold. No reason to be broke as a lowbie these days.

The results….

Yes I broke 2,000 gold, and I still have auctions in the Auction House. For those that still are scrimping for gold there is no excuse, for a little more effort you too can double your gold in no time.

Star Trek Online – Not much as of late, but I’m burning to get back in the fray, I just read a book called “The Burning House” about Klingons, and a little more about their culture. So I’m ready to blast a petaQ to Sto-Vo-Kor.

High Latency Love -

First off a friend of mine, Mike an old guildie of mine from the Dark Ages of Camelot Days, then he tracked me down in World of Warcraft. He played a Pallie, and I played a Prot Warrior in the days. He’d bitch at me that I suck at tanking, then I would bitch at him his heals suck. Me and Mike been friends for some time, though we never saw each other face to face, which is the awesome thing about the internet, but his bitchy voice is burned into my brain thanks to Vent….

Anway Mike made a short film for Corpus Christi 7 day film festival and it was pretty good. Check it out. It’s called Apart.

MY PING SUCKS….AND I’M OUT OF HERE G!

After saying hello to my friend Jaina Proudmore, (She’s a boss toon, and no one ever seems to guard her. Wonder how hard would she be to kill) So I walked around Theramore wreaking havoc. Oohh the Boat was in.

I hopped on my hog, then rode towards the boat like a bat out of hell, then coming off the boat was a gnome on her motorcycle. It was funny for a second. We both turn around on our bikes and gaze at each other…..it’s a dirty whorelock.

So we both dismount. I unleash my Water Elemental. I put up my shields, I charge a frost bolt, I get feared……I’m dead. 

Then she goes on her merry little gnome way, laughing her little gnome laugh.

I faced alot of warlocks 1v1, and the ones that I actually beat are very few, and very far between. This just wasn’t my day.

Though when I rezzed myself, and went back to the boat, a dumb 80 warrior passed through, and died rather quickly…Feel my wrath you wretched fool.
