So when I first started STO, I bought the collectors edition, and I was ready to rock and roll. Things went down fast after that, and I felt like I was marooned on Ceti Alpha Five.

Fast forward a tosh,  and Star Trek Online is starting something new. You can play as Klingon or Romulan from level one. That’s pretty cool idea…hey why didn’t they do that from the get go…Oh wait I might of enjoyed that.

I did have a Klingon toon that I made it to my 30′s, and had a couple of ships. I loved my Bird of Prey.  So I decided lets go check out the changes. Oh wait my account is fooked up, and I have no toons anymore. Despite my anger, and I was so angry I wanted to bury someone alive…..alive….Kirk.

Ok to be honest, after seeing the new video with Spock…I got a little hyped up. I love Klingons, but I also love the Romulans ever since the TOS episode “Balance of Terror”….Tell you the truth I did love the space combat of STO a lot.

So despite having lost my toons, I decided to give it another shot, so with my last breath….I spit at thee.

Well still playing WoW. Just working on my Tiller stuff with my mage.  Found a hole in my Healing spec on the Pally, I went for the Shield, I should of grabbed Eternal Flame. I have a busy weekend ahead which includes some Golf. I love golf, but I suck at it.

Werit has been around a long time, and it is with some sadness I heard he quit WAR, and now his future is changing. I wish him the very best in his new adventures, but  I hope he doesn’t leave blogging behind in this day and age of bloggers falling to the wayside, that would make me kinda sad. Back in the WAR days me being a staunch Chosen advocate, and him a staunch Dwarf  I respected him a lot, and even saw him on the battlefield a few times, which was pretty awesome. Werit and I chewed a lot of the same dirt with WAR, and for that I always have much love for him and his blog.

Check these blogs, and many more….A big Congo Rats are in order. Keep on chugging folks…but you do make me feel old. Cause we did something like this many…many moons ago…in a far away place.  Syp led us before in a movement to get new bloggers, and I was a part of it on my old blog, Way of the Chosen, back in 2009. A lot of great blogs came out of that, and are still going strong even today, that makes me proud that I had a small hand in that too.

That’s all great, but unfortunately that’s all there is to it. There isn’t really any way to turn all that hard work and game knowledge into something that could be beneficial in the real world.

Until online poker came along.

This combines all the fun of playing an online game, with the potential reward of cold hard cash if you play well. There is also a certain MMO element here. As a poker player, you are building a “character”. Some poker sites take this even further, allowing you to earn bonus points as you play and use those points to kit out your avatar in custom items.

Doing your homework before you start playing is also important. Just like choosing a good server for an MMO is important, so picking the right poker site to play at is vital as they are not all made the same. Some offer easy games (as they have a lot of very inexperienced players – who are known in the poker world as “fish”), while others offer huge promotions, others still have a massive variety of poker variants (yes poker comes in many flavors), and there are those that have a lot of professionals (known as “sharks” who feed on the “fish”).

So do look around before you decide where to play and check out some reviews. Your credit card will thank you for it.

Gamers also have a sound tactical mind. In fact, their gaming experience actually makes them really good managers. Why? Because gamers understand resource maximization, supply, rarity, and how to do the best you can with the tools you have. Unfortunately, the corporate world hasn’t caught on yet.

Those skills, along with patience and the ability to figure out your opponents, will set you in very good stead with online poker. Certainly, it will put you ahead of those with money to burn and no brain to tell them how to play.

So if you are looking to put your gamer acquired skills to work for you (and there are a large number of poker pros that make their living from the game) then give online poker a shot. Just make sure you grab your fishing gear and avoid the sharks.

Anywho said to say making gold is really the only pleasure I’m getting from WoW these days. With Patch 5.3 coming down the pike my motivation is at an all time low, which is sad to say affecting my blogging.  I need something to get the juices flowing again, and Camelot Unchained is a long long time away.

With all the changes going on with 5.3, I don’t know if WoW is really going to be in my future all that much. Neverwinter, even though a nice game I don’t think will hold my attention much either. Help me Camelot Unchained you’re my only hope.

What I liked –

Graphics – Clean, and Crisp. I didn’t see that many bugs and my machine is not top of the line at all. I was also impressed with the detail, what I saw of the city, landscape and dungeons I was really impressed.

Combat – I really liked the combat, it was smooth, quick paced, and exciting. I really liked some of the combat animations, like magic missile. It’s what I dreamt magic missiles were when I was growing up playing D&D

Gameplay/Quests – It was fun I have to admit for what I saw, the quests weren’t tedious there was a flow to them, and the gameplay was fun. NPC interaction didn’t take away from the game.

Forgotten Realms – I love the Forgotten Realms setting, I grew up on it, ever since I read my first Drizzt novel, and played Pool of Radiance. This place is my second fantasy home.

Character Creation – It was fun, with a bunch of choices, like arm thickness, and the classic dice rolling for your stats…yeah I rerolled ALOT!

What I didn’t like -

Classes – There weren’t any classes that really spoke to me. Control Wizard has a little orb floating around him/her…really? Where are the classic D&D classes such as Ranger, or Paladin.

Alignment – Part of D&D fun is you get to play with ethical and morality stuff, I wish there was more dynamic in this game. Where’s my evil choices, and my lawful evil alignment?

UI- Perhaps I just need to get use to it, but the UI seems to me to be smooshed, and cluttered.

Overall -

For a Beta, it worked pretty smooth, I was impressed. I like the game, there’s a lot of fun stuff there , but I think once you get past the fluff, and pretty stuff the game just is missing stuff I would love to see in an D&D MMO. Namely playing a cool evil Necromancer. I’ll still dabble with it, and see if it gets better.

It’s hard for me cause a part of me feels like I’m letting my guild down. I want to do RBG’s, but I am too inconsistent in my schedule, and when they ask me it’s usually when I don’t have much time left to play. I can join random people’s RBG but I feel I really do suck so I don’t want to join a team of people I don’t know, cause they will not me as forgiving as guildies towards my suckitude.

The guild’s grown a lot too, and sometimes when I log in, I don’t see anyone I really know. Lately I just log in, do my Farmville, and maybe work on my Mage’s rep a bit so I can make some new recipes, and then call it a day.Perhaps maybe I’m a little burnt out too on WoW in general, the sucky thing is I don’t have time to play anything else either.

I know I’m an adult now, and I have a lot more things going on in my life, but a part of me misses the days when I was hardcore playing everyday for 4-6 hours a day, just a small part…but a part nonetheless.

Man I don’t think I’ll ever find time for Age of Wushu, now Neverwinter is around the corner me..oh my. Still finding time to eek out a few dailies in WoW, and of course doing my Farmville on WoW too. I just might take a hiatus day….just maybe.

MY PING SUCKS, AND I BE OUT!!!

Yes I know I did some time playing Alliance, but is with a bunch of dudes from work at the time, and it was pretty awesome. Hell they use to call me Heatscourge at work, and that was my toons name…pretty awesome name for a mage. amiright?

Anywho we were raiding BWL regularly and one piece of Netherwind kept alluding me. The boots, so when they dropped a fellow mage, Raist (Gee a mage named after the Dragonlance mage in WoW. no one ever sees that, amiright?), well even though I had the DKP to do, instead of passing on the boots, Raist rolled on them, and got them. Bastard didn’t even need it. I wasn’t put out of place, Raist was a friend and we joked about it all the time. We joked about how he stole those boots from me, and he always said he was going to disenchant them in front of me.

Well a year later I saw Raist in the flesh, and we we’re joking around, but I kind of forgot about the boots.  He said, he had something to show me…he logged into WoW on his mage. Went to his bank, pulled out the Netherwind boots, and Disenchanted them in front of me live.

What a douchemage!

I did get him back though, he got real drunk and I wrote on his back in perm marker, “I love PvEnis”

So maybe I’m the one full of Douchemagery.
