High Latency Living -

Well my mage hit 90, I’m making some gold again, went from like 100 gold, to 6k in a couple days, and still going strong. Gearing up my mage, Alterac Valley Call to Arms really helped me there. Still haven’t tried Age of Wushu going to try to get to that this weekend if I got time.

What is this Douchemagery?

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 24, 2013 by theerivs

thouartI think this is going to be a new column of mine…of all the times I was a Douche….and was up to no good….

I think every mage has opened a portal for some hapless click happy sap to some unknown destination. If you are a mage, and you haven’t, your missing out on a fun aspect of the game.

So back in the days of Vanilla, when I was either in Molten Core, or BWL almost every day of the week, yeah I was hardcore. When you had 40 hardcore nuts raiding with you, sometimes you get a little stir crazy. On this day we we’re finishing Molten Core, and at this point it was pretty routine, and Ragnaros was on farm. I whispered my fellow mages, and we agreed to open all our portals to Darnassus.

So when Rag came down, and loot was handed out, we all opened our ports, and people were clicking away as us mages we’re giggling in our private chat. Then the cries over Vent started.

“You assholes!” …. “WTF!!!” ….” Someone better come get us!”….

All us mages we’re busting out laughing, and I was brought to tears by it.  Let’s just say from then on, our guild looked before they clicked.

Now I’m going to wreck some things

563871_329971053750303_570115100_nMy mage hit 90, and I’m fitting to blow some stuff up….in big time fashion. It’s AV CTA too. Oh shit….it’s on like a pile of neckbones.  I love the mage class, I worked on my Pally more because of utility, Tank, and healers are always needed. My mage is a work of love though. Love because I love blowing things up.

Speaking of Alterac Valley, let me tell you the best things I do in AV. I wait until the Alliance turns the tower, say like Tower Point. I sneak in the tower invisible, and stand in the back of the room. Most of the time, the alliance is standing there watching the door. I pop up in the back of the room, and turn the tower back. When it works….it’s pure awesomeness. I literally almost get a mage boner. I can’t wait to try that a few times tonight.

I converted my justice points, to honor. I had enough honor to get the Mal robe. The rest of my armor is crafted. I am in DIRE need of weapons, and trinkets/rings so I’m going to get those first.

Can’t wait to make some corpse piles…cause Mages didn’t invent corpse piles…we made them better.

Back to Mage School

Posted in MMORPG, Uncategorized with tags , , on April 17, 2013 by theerivs

hot girl 6I’ve been working on my mage quite a bit. as of late. It seems things changed quite a bit since the last time i maged it up. No longer am I the harbinger of death that I use to be, in PvE, or PvP.  I have rotations in every spec now, in Frost I have thinks like Frost Bomb, and I have to keep up my Ice Barrier, and in Fire I have things like Living Bomb, and Combustion. I’m afraid to check out my favorite spec, Arcane I heard it’s not the melt your face spec that it once was either. Though it’s a little more fun, when grinding mobs, I still wish it was fireballx3 = dead, or Frostbolt, Frost Nova, Two Blizzards = dead. Maybe it’s the gear, or the fact I’m still 89.

It’s funny I’ve been playing a mage since Vanilla, and I use to feel god like…not anymore…hell even my portals aren’t as awesome as they use to be.

Well at least I’m not as bad as a couple of players I ran a dungeon with last night. Hey group up during magnetic shroud, and invest in downloading Deadly Boss Mods. Thanks for the 19 minute wait for the epic fail.

Anywho despite all the changes, and the way mage class is set up now, I’m still enjoying it.

Back in the Day…

lumberjack-largeWe are nearing 10 years of World of Warcraft….That’s amazing. If you were 8 when this game came out, you will be nearing 18 now, you grew up on this game. So if you started playing WoW when you were 8 or 9, and you’re a hot girl feel free to email me…er…nvm…uhm anyway. Sometimes I get a sense of nostalgia, since I’ve been playing with some of the same people for over 10 years.  I think I’m going to share some of those stories with you. Feel free to tell me your stories, I would love to hear them.

One of the guys I’ve been playing so long it’s almost unbelievable. Bitaken aka Aurellian/Linax, back in the day he mostly played his mage. Aurellian, and I played a Prot Warrior named Rivgorian. Well one day I’m grinding in the Plaguelands, he whispers me…

Aurellian – “Hey what you doing?”

Me – “Nothing, just grinding in Plaguelands for rep, and stuff”

Aurellian – “Stay there, I got something for you”

He appears in true mage fashion in mere moments due to telports being really awesome, he opens trade and there it was a purple axe. An axe of the deep woods. I was stunned, and didn’t know what to say. Back in the day that was worth alot of gold. That was my very first purple pixel, and it meant alot to me, that a guildie and a friend gave it to me.  That with my Lightforge Spaulders, and Skullflame Shield. I was the hottest Orc Prot Warrior on Azeroth. Yeah I wore Lightforge Spaulders, I use to say I was the first Horde Paladin.

That was almost 9 years ago, and I’m still playing with Aurellian, but more than that together we’re building new memories. Like last night playing with guildies. and having laughs as we scream comments about green balls, blue balls, mounting, and me dropping the hammer on someone. It’s stories like these that keep me in the World of Warcraft, and it’s people that make MMO’s great.

High Latency Living –

Oh man I did some arenas last night with my nephew the Warlock, with my Holy Pally we got crushed by rogues, but a mage/monk combo we almost had. Definately need more practice, and maybe he needs to go Affliction. I also need to get my mage leveled, he’s been sitting at 89 forever.

The Culling – I started to cull some of my blogroll, if I accidently deleted you, I’m sorry just shoot me a message and I’ll put you back on. Tell you the truth it my own personal google reader, and it was way before I even used Google Reader.

Get Your PvE out of my PvP!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 10, 2013 by theerivs

pwnnoobfunnydogginWith the discussion on Twitter, and Rowan posting about it. I was thinking why don’t I like PvE’ing anymore. I mean I use to be a hardcore raider. I use to attack Molten Core, and Blackwing Lair, and if I ever find the mother fooker who didn’t Loot the Dogs…their dead. It’s not just Raiding I can’t stand, it’s alot to do with PvE these days that really sends a shiver down my back.

Why I Don’t Like PvE -

1. Quests – I LOATHE QUESTS!. I always have, I never did them. I would rather grind out 100 mobs then do one quest. I really don’t know why. I like the Zen of grinding, or perhaps I have issues with someone giving me orders even in a virtual world, perhaps I just love killing things. I don’t know why I just hate doing them. Though I’m better now, and do some to gain reputation, I still don’t like them.

2. Burn Out - I’ve been either a tank, or a healer in most of the MMO’s I’ve played. In most of my career in WoW, I was a tank. Thus basically the leader role for either that dungeon, or working closely with the leader to make sure things went smooth. PvE is a cruel mistress, and if you don’t execute something right, you wipe. As a tank, I took that personally and after awhile it wore me down. I do love to tank though, and will still do it if needed, but as a full time basis. No way. To me PvE is REALLY…REALLY repetitive.

3. The In Crowd - I play MMO’s for the people. Alot of my guild are PvPer’s (read ALL if not most) so if their not raiding, or PvEing. I’m not going to either. When I use to raid, it was with a GREAT bunch of people, had so much fun, and joked. I mean one time a guy got drunk, and just screaming “GO TEAM!”  over vent as he aggroed the trash and boss by himself.  The whole guild was laughing non stop…those days are gone pretty much. There’s a elitist attitude that PvE’ers have that kind of sickens me.

4.Repetition – One of the main reasons I hate PvE is doing the same thing, over, and over again. Sure in PvP you do get some repetition, but at least it’s not facing the same thing, time and again. I get alot more excitement playing real people. No two BG’s are ever alike, there’s always something new in PvP.

5. Carebears – It seems like the people who play PvP, and the people who play PvE are slightly different. The PvP people seem a little more easy going, a little more go with the flow type people, but they are vicious to the bone if you cross them, they are competitors in every sense of the word. PvE’ers are like living in a hippy commune, everyone has to get along, and god forbid if you don’t, and they seem a little more anal about things.

So for many reasons I dig PvP alot more, and kind of dig that we’re seperated by WoW, cause I don’t want your PvE cooties on me.

High Latency Living-

Well Patch 5.3 is quickly shaping up to be quite the PvP patch, it has yet to be seen how things will play out. Holinka being the PvP guru actually replied to me, even though I didn’t agree with what he said. I have to say he gets points for not evading things. If things blow up, I might head back to GW2.

High Latency Love -

Even though Ami doesn’t think I would look good in a dress, I’m going to show some love. Go to Warlocky, and say Riv said hi.

Know Your Role

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 4, 2013 by theerivs

Sexy_Adult_Womens_Halloween_Costumes_Black_Wet_Look_Madame_Mistress_Dominatrix_Costume_Theme_Party_Outfit_1_LargeWell 5.3 patch for World of Warcraft is becoming quite the PvP 10 care pile up. First we had the resilience change….now we have to pick our roles.  Which by the way it’s isn’t working quite so well as of yet.

Here’s my worries, and they are only worries as of yet, not de facto arguments, so don’t get all riled up.

1, Queue times - I have a feeling this is going to increase the times to the point of absurdity. I wait 20-30 minutes for dungeons as DPS, now I have to wait that long for BG’s

2. Hybrids get screwed – So your a DPS/Healer, oh wait we don’t have enough healers, or we don’t have enough DPS. Can we change? If not Hybrids get the short end of the stick.

3. Playing with Friends – BG’s we’re about just going with a couple friends having fun, now we have to worry about composition, and roles?

4. RBG’s – What’s the effect on RBG’s. Will this effect RBG teams in the long run.

5. The Point – What is the point of these changes? Is there an overall vision of PvP I’m not seeing.

5.3 is starting to look like it’s going to suck the life out of PvP, I hope I’m wrong. I hope things work out. All I know there is alot of games out there I could be playing, but I choose WoW because I enjoy PvP. If that is taken away, I’ll just log out and spend my money elsewhere. To voice my concerns I popped over to the WoW Forums, and I even twitter the PvP Guru over at Blizz, Holinka. Feel free to let me know what you think, or even better let Mr. Holinka know.
