NBI Sucks

Posted in MMORPG, Writing with tags , on May 31, 2012 by theerivs

NBI Sucks, and I for one happy it is over.  People all over the blogosphere are claiming it a success, as for me I’m glad it’s over.

Why NBI Failed

1. All These New Awesome Blogs - All these great new writers, and their new fresh blogs.

2. Great Advice -  All these sponsors piped in with their great advice, I haven’t gotten to half of them yet.

3. My Blogroll is Huge – I have to go through and add all these new blogs to my blog roll. I use to be made fun of back in the day on how huge my blogroll is, well this isn’t going to help.

4. Hemorrhoids -All these leads to one thing..see  I do most of my reading on the toilet, all this extra reading will result in me buying Preparation H. I’m sending the bill to Syp.

Of course I mean this all in good fun, I really am mildly shocked how well things turned out, but now comes the real task I hope you new bloggers stick around, and write some great stuff. Cause if i add you to my blogroll, and next month I have to take you off…I will be PISSED.

Check out all the new blogs, and sponsor advice links on Syp’s post…cause I’m real lazy to link all that stuff.

They Pulled Me Back In

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on May 30, 2012 by theerivs

I’m heading back to Azeroth. Like the Godfather, when I thought I was out. They pulled me back in. Some Old Guildies decided to head back to WoW for a bit. I decided to give it a go. So a friend sent me a scroll of rez, ya know free transfer, 7 days of play, and free toon to instant 80. Wow what a great deal. Unfortunately I didn’t take advantage of the instant 80, cause I decided to move the Paladin.  It’s more bang for my buck, he’s geared out to tank, for the betterment of the guild, and plus he can heal if needed.

Though I have much mage love, I’m going to try to do something outside the box. I’m going to level a warlock. That’s right. Mr. Mage love himself is going to level a ‘lock. I make fun of them all the time, and I decided it’s time to walk a level or 85 in there shoes.

I’m kind of geeked up about my return to the World of Warcraft, it’s been awhile so it’s going to be little fresh for a bit, and somethings will be nice and familar, welp got to go and start reading what’s new in the world of Pally Tanking, and Healing. We’re on Thrall server, Horde side if anyone wants to come by and say hi. The Pally’s name is Rivz. Got any Pally Tips Feel Free to Post’Em Here.

Cash Rules Everything Around Me

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on May 29, 2012 by theerivs

So this weekend I made my first foray into the Diablo 3 AH, I don’t know how much success I was. I didn’t really do any research I just started putting stuff up at crazy prices to see if I could get a sucker to buy it.

Sucker bought the stuff…now I’m wondering if I could of got more if I would of done the foot work.   But I’m wondering how do I turn my gold profits..into real cash?

Something to figure out.

In other game related news I’ve been reading the plight of 38 studios, and it’s really messed up, and I feel bad for the Rank and File employees, I read they didn’t get paid on May 1st the day they were supposed to be paid. I don’t know know about you, I don’t get paid May 1st, I’m taking some computers, and heading to unemployment May 2nd. Just saying.

Since I love money…alot I started my own Kickstarter feel free to donate. It’s called the “I want to be a millionaire project”  Feel free to make my dreams come true.

3 years and a month -

So I was curious how long has it been this blog been around, I missed my blog’s birthday by a month, I should send it a card.  3 years I’ve been pounding these keys. Oh man the memories, all the friends I made, and just the virtual adventures this blog has led me on. It’s been a great 3 years, and I’m looking forward to the next 3 years and beyond.  I’d also like to thank everyone who reads the crap I put out, I hope I made you laugh once in awhile at my stupidity, and or antics

High Latency Living -

Playing Diablo 3 like a mad man. I really need to get back to SWTOR though. Are people making any money off Diablo 3 AH I wonder?  I haven’t played Red Dead Redemption in awhile, I’ve been getting a hankering for it.

High Latency Love -

I Rez Therefore I Am – Has some interesting thoughts on Identity and the Virtual World. As I am kinda interested in that stuff, I’ll be showing them some love

Stabby McStabby - Loves Warhammer, and thus I love that blog. I started my blogging adventure with Warhammer, I still have a soft spot for that game. Sometimes I think of even going back.

Giddeon’s Hammer - I just like the cut of this blog’s jib. It’s really sharp looking, and the writing is pretty top notch.

Gnomegates - Anyone trying to make gold I have this sweet soft spot for, sure they are no goblins, but I’ll let it slide.

Butterfly Gamer – I don’t know more I become a casual gamer, the more I become a butterfly gamer I think, so I’ll be keeping my eye on this blog.

Show Some Love For These New Bloggers….High Latency Style

Last but never least, Syncaine describes my blog to a tee. That method’s been working for 3 years I guess, it’s like he actually knows me….really knows me.

High Latency Laughs -

No Laughs Today, My heart goes out to all the 38 Studio, and Bioware people that lost their jobs recently. Good Luck.

Also it’s Memorial day – My heart goes out to the families who have sacrificed a loved one who was lost in conflict serving my country that I love so much, and my thanks to the ones still serving and sacrifice on a daily basis. Freedom is definately not free.

My American friends have a safe, and happy Memorial Day.

With that.

NBI- You need a Thick Skin

Posted in Other Nerdy Pursuits, Writing with tags , on May 22, 2012 by theerivs

There are many advice posts being posted about how to do this, how to do that, all of them great posts.

One thing though I did not see is that beign a blogger, you sometimes have to have a thick skin. You are putting a piece of you, for the whole world to view. Some people may not like what your opinion is, and they might attack you, and sometimes get personal about it.

I don’t censure my blog, I have people call me every name in the book, and I leave the statements up, why?  Because I don’t care, their comments are a reflection of them, and their stupidity. Censor that, no I want to show the world that this person is upset of a blog, that just posts crap. As a bouncer at a bar for most of my life I learned a thing or two about having a thick skin.

A Couple Tips For A Thicker Skin.

1. It’s never personal – The people that insult you over the internet don’t really know you, so calling a jerk because of your thoughts on a warrior talent is a moot point.  When people use to scream in my face how their going to get their gun, and blow my head off never worried me, cause the blowhards are just that, big bags of air…it was always the quiet ones I worried about, who without saying a word would grab a bottle, come in back of you, and smash it on your head.

2. Never Argue With Stupidity – See I kind of enjoy feeding the trolls sometimes cause I know no one has any real power on the internet…well maybe Bill Gates does, but that’s besides the point. To avoid frustration I suggest to just walk away.  When people use to argue with me when I worked at the bars, I use to say I wasn’t on the debate team, so they can save their breath.

3. Have a Set of Rules -  If you are going to censor, or not have a set of codes to work by on your blog. Is there a line that a commenter can cross that will upset you. You have some guidelines, and post those to commenters so they know,  so when someone breaks the rules, no debates, it’s just done. Me I have no limits, I don’t censor myself, nor others…but I can understand why someone would  put limitations up. One time someone went to my personal blog found out I was living with my mother, called me a loser for doing so. What they DIDN’T know was that I moved in with Mom who lost a leg due to cancer, to help out with my Stepdad who had a major stroke.  I didn’t remove that comment until the user asked, because it showed what an idiot that person was.

4. If you truly write for yourself, who cares what others think - Alot of people are saying you should write for yourself, not care about numbers…if you are truly doing that then you should have no problems if someone doesn’t like what you do.

5. Never Get in A Fight With Role Players – They be crazy.

First Step

Posted in Gaming, MMORPG with tags , on May 21, 2012 by theerivs

The First Step in any recovery program is admitting you have a problem. Though I was loathe to get Diablo 3,  I admit I was wrong. I’m hopelessly addicted to this game. Blizzard has done it again.

It appeals to alot of what I use to like about video games, the exploration, the story, the customization, the rewards. It takes me back to the good ole days of video gaming with much better graphics, and music.

I’ve been playing the wizard, and it was a rocky start but now I’m getting better hang of it, and I’m just ripping shit up, and leaving corpse piles around. I even got brave and started a hardcore barbarian.

I don’t know what it is, but I think it’s something primal like a rat, hitting a button to get fed. I just want to sit there and click, and click, and click until I get new sparklies, or powers.

It’s a great distraction until the next MMO, but I feel sad for my SWTOR toons, their getting the shaft.

High Latency Living -

Ok I broke the bank. and bought the Collectors Edition of Diablo 3….Why do i do that to myself…more crap I don’t need, and won’t use. I guess I’ll have to buy some more lipstick, and kneepads to make the money back.  I just started a couple heroes to get the feel of each class. I’m digging my male wizard, he sounds like a snobby jerk…and lets face it…I am kinda a snobby jerk…well my girlfriend thinks I am…and my mom too. Though the girl demon hunter with the heels feels right, yet it confuses me.

I’m still chugging away at SWTOR, but with all my friend pretty much gone, it’s rough going.  I might poke my head back into WoW to play my mage awesomeness, or my god like pally.

High Latency Love -

Even though Amijade is a dirty Warlock, I still like the blog she writes it looks nice, and the content is pretty good. Check Warlocky Out.

Another Blog I’m really digging is Image Heavy, it’s visually pleasing and the content is good.

Being a cheap bastard, I really look forward digging into the Frugal Gamer.

Show these newer blogs some High Latency Love!

High Latency Laugh-

Yeah Servers go down, you can’t play Diablo 3 got me a little jenky, but meh…This is funny.

Rift 3 faction PvP, and On the Fence with Diablo

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on May 17, 2012 by theerivs

I have a Diablo 3 collectors edition waiting for me at the mere cost of 100.00, well minus 10 for what I slapped down for it. Even though I might trade in games for some money off, and have a 5 buck coupon. I’m still on the fence, I might even down grade to regular version.  I didn’t love the old diablos, I mean I liked them and all…but I wasn’t all goo goo ga ga over it…maybe I’ll just get the regular edition.

Meanwhile I’m trying to get my WoW account unbanned for shits and giggles. Might head back there mess around with some old guildies.

But I might head back to RIFT, this looks interesting.  Being an old school DAOC nutbag that I am, and who thrived on 3 faction PvP back in the day. I really like the idea of this…but is it too late for RIFT. I don’t know, and will it have the awesomeness DAOC had.

Alot of stuff coming down the pike, and people say the golden age of the MMO is over, I say we haven’t reached it yet.

The Eve of Diablo 3

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on May 14, 2012 by theerivs

I’m supposed to be excited, my collectors edition is coming. I should be excited. I should be wanting to wait in line at a store for it. For some reason I’m not excited. I don’t know why really, nothing I could my finger on.

I mean I liked the Diablo series, I still play the techno song “The Sin Wars” at times. I had hours, and hours of fun with the game…..but Diablo 3 isn’t really hitting the nerdgasm spots.

3 reasons why Diablo 3 isn’t doing it for me.

3. I don’t want to work at my game – All this talk of making money off it, is making a mockery of the game. I want to play a game, not really do it for a business. Though I am intrigued, and if I could make an extra dollar or so, my inner whore is curious. I will most likely try to in the end, thus putting myself to work.

2. The classes – I talked about this before, the classes aren’t really getting me excited. Though watching a hot demon hunter in chick running around in high heels might be fascinating.

3. More of the Same - Watching the gameplay videos nothing shook me as groundbreaking. We’ll have to play the real thing to see.

Overall I’ll get the game, when Barnum Bailey said there was a sucker born every minute…I was that sucker.
