GW2, and My Own Little Goth Girl

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , , on April 30, 2012 by theerivs

GW2, and myself got to a rocky start. I got the beta invite after I signed up my code, but it kept saying that there was no beta events going on. Arena.net finally fixed the problem Saturday night (well might of been early Saturday, but I didn’t have a chance to check)  So though I was a little sour I wasn’t able to check it out as much as I liked. I did get a chance to check it out.

1. Graphics – We’re pretty awesome, at times I thought when I was in a crowded area it was hard to make out things to clearly. I dumbed down my graphics, though it didn’t help.

2. Gameplay – I enjoyed the stories, the cut scene conversations were ok, I didn’t enjoy them as much as I did SWTOR, cause it just felt like I wasn’t a part of the conversation. The music, voice acting, and sound effects we’re all top notch.

3. Combat - I enjoyed it immensely I like how you work up to skills, not just train for them. Some of the spells, and combat animation we’re really cool.  When you get close to death, you could fight for your life.

4. Classes – I really like the class mix, and there are some definantly fun classes.

5. Races- I really liked the race choices so far, Didn’t think I would like the Charr, but I ended up kind of liking them. They remind me alot like Klingons.

6. More Detailed Experience – Once I got in after the Arena.Net snafu. I really loved the charactor creation process. It’s like your building your toon, and it’s backstory. Although I’m not an RP player by any means, I think RP players would get wood from this…but then there isn’t many choices so maybe they won’t.  I made a Norn Thief. I love this guys, stealth though isn’t permanent, it only gave me 3 seconds, which sucked. 3 seconds isn’t enough to do anything.  I entered an instance myself at level 3….MISTAKE!. But I learned the hard way, and still had fun.

Next I made an male human elemantalist, I really liked this toon as a spell caster, you didn’t stay a glass cannon, you could move around, and still be effective. Casters in this game are definately pretty cool.

After I played the intro, I started a Charr Warrior. Man I really liked the vibe of this race, and class. Very Klingony, with words like Ash Legion, Blood Legion, Iron Legion, and with their voice acting…..I can almost scream Q’plah!

Finally I made my own Goth Girl Necromancer….She was hot.  I wasn’t to impressed with the blood fiend pet you got. The spells you got we’re cool.  I wish I had more time to play her…but I was to busy geting her naked in her yellow underwear…and flirting with guys…wait…er I mean I was min/maxing her stats.  Yea that’s what I meant…

Overall - I enjoyed my experience in the first Beta, I really looking forward to them cleaning and working on things. If it was released today, I don’t think it would make it, cause to me it smacks of something missing, not quite there. I can’t put my finger on it yet. Like a great blueberry pie, that needs to cook a bit longer, thats the reason they have betas so we can figure this out.  Otherwise definately a great game, and looking forward to playing it some more.

High Latency Living-

It’s going to suck to be my girlfriend this summer, with so many awesome games heading our way. Diablo 3, GW2, Darksiders2, and so many more. Maybe she should find a hobby…like gaming.

I keep hearing this big deal about High Heels on the Demon Hunter…who cares it’s a game people. Geez. Sometimes we gamers have the ability to pick out the most mundane and turn it into a big deel. Someone at Blizzard is probably saying to themselves in a Shatnering way, “Get a Life!”

High Latency Love -

I’m giving Spinks some love from Spinksville, last couple posts were awesome, but her answers on Scary’s post were deliciously evil, and I promote all things evil, plus I hear she looks better then a demon hunter in heels. Go give her some love.

All Aboard…The Hype Train

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on April 27, 2012 by theerivs

Guild Wars 2 is Ramping up, and I really want to get on the hype train, preorder the game, and hop into Beta, and bathe in all that is GW2.

But I must resist, cause I’ve walked this path too…too many times before with Warhammer Online, and SWTOR. Though I had fun on both counts, I’ve been let down by both games, and they didn’t deliver to really grasp the need I had.  I’m Even Looking at the Collectors Edition, something I vowed I wouldn’t do again, but a Rytlock statue WOULD look cool next to my Darth Malgus.

What’s sucking me back in the Hype Train.

1. WvW – Being as DAOC was my first MMO, and you always remember your first. The smacks of those days, and gets me excited.

2. Necromancer Class- It smacks alot like the Warlock class of WoW, but I just like the Vibe of it.

3. Norn, and Char Race – I just really like these races, especially the Norn, cause…well I have a Viking fetish.

4. The Polish – GW2 is just looking really polished from all the videos I’ve seen. Good Videos mean more fuel for the hype train.

5.I’m not sure it’s Hype – Arena.net might just live up to all this hype. They might actually succeed where others have failed and breathe new life into the MMO genre…..then again they may not.

As always though in parting I wish you love, peace, and soooouuuullll!

Big Pimpin

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 26, 2012 by theerivs

When a pimp gets a girl to turn tricks for him, it’s called “turning the bitch out”

Thanks to SWTOR, I know how Pimps everywhere feel when they do this. I got that feeling from “Pimping” Jaesa. When I turned her to the dark side, DAMN it felt good. Now she’s killing, and hoeing for me everywhere.

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta……

In other things, I picked my Legacy name Riverian. In homage to my Iseult Albionian Cleric that started this whole MMO thing off. I Don’t quiet get it yet, but I’ll get there.

So for now it’s onward and upwards, and I’m still digging SWTOR, it’s a good time killer until GW2

Days of Yore

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on April 25, 2012 by theerivs

Me and my old friends/guildies been talking about the good ole days of DAOC with it’s  PvP, or Realm vs. Realm, and how awesomely fun it was. That no other game has captured that fun gameplay since.

Perhaps I am a Relic like those we use to get up and raid for at 4am on a Sunday, perhaps those days are long gone .

What I Liked About DAOC Realm vs. Realm (PvP)

1. Strategy – There seemed to be a little more strategy, like where to attack, and how we are going to go about attacking, then just Rock, Paper Scissors of WoW PvP.

2. Threesome – There were two other enemies, not just one sided. It kept things more interesting. I wish maybe SWTOR had a 3 faction system…guess they have failed me yet again.

3. Instilled Faction Pride – There was more pride in faction, and guild in those days made thing worth while. Was it a circle, we did better because we we’re a part of something, doing better created pride, the pride led us on to being better.

4. Climbing Walls – I had an Infiltrator, and I climbed walls, ganked someone, and ran the hell away. It was pure awesome as a stealth class.

5. Darkness Falls – The best dungeon ever, when another realm took it over, it was great fun waiting for the groups of Mids, or Hibs to come and clear you out, even better fun when you cleared them out.

I really don’t think those days are gone, I just think all the companies think we all want the quick fix, or easy path. I don’t think thats true. I just think they need to figure out how to implement these kind of things into MMOs without scaring away the bastardo FPS wanna-be kiddies.

High Latency Living -

I ask a stupid question on Twitter, and everyone jumped down my throat. I asked if GW2 was going to have a subscription fee, I kind of knew it didn’t but I wasn’t sure, but boy did they let me know.

I don’t know SWTOR is kind of sputtering for me, every since Bioware jammed its dick in my ass, I just don’t feel much like logging in.  I still have yet to check out Wrath of Heroes…just not enough time lately.

Just a teaser, there’s something awesome coming in May!  YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!

High Latency Love -

Ysharros is back one of my fav bloggers…go give her some love.

It’s been awhile since I gave the Pug Priest any love, go get you some, and who knows she might even give you a lapdance.

Is there Viagra for Gaming?Waiting For Diablo

Posted in Gaming, MMORPG with tags , on April 18, 2012 by theerivs

Diablo 3 is coming out soon, and I preordered it. I should be excited, I loved Diablo 1, and 2.  What I can tell about Diablo 3 is that it’s going to be an epic game by the folks of Blizzard.

For some reason, I’m not as excited as I should be. I think it has something to do with the classes. There are several new classes that seem somewhat similar to classes from Diablo 2. These new classes are sure to offer plenty of new twists and people are already exploring how they play into Diablo 3 strategy and gameplay. But these new classes haven’t really caught my eye yet and I’m missing the old ones. I really loved the necromancer, You could summon legions of undead to do your bidding. His voice acting was cool too.  My other favorite class the Paladin isn’t here either.

Oh I’ll play the game, have no doubt about it…but I preordered the Collectors Edition, starting to think another bad move on your’s truly part, but then again you do get a real cool Diablo head.

The game I’m really excited in playing is Guild Wars 2. Maybe cause it’s the undiscovered country, and what I’m seeing from that camp is looking pretty damn good.

Perhaps once I get Diablo 3, and start playing I’ll find something I like…I hope.

High Latency Living -

Well Bioware angered me, but they can always redeem themselves. Also I gave love to Relic a developer I truly love for Developers Awareness Week. This Weekend I got some Dawn of War Jonesing, so I might load it up and play. Hopefully I’ll have a little time to breathe.

High Latency Love -

Gaarawarr turned me on to 6v6v6  a Wrath of Heroes fansite, I really need to go check out this game, it’s in open beta so you should to. It’s based on Warhammer, so what’s not to like?

Special shout out to Scary, thanks for giving the Developers some love, I’ll give it right back.

Getting my Iphone wasn’t like this…ok almost..

Traitorous Dog

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on April 13, 2012 by theerivs

Thank you Bioware…

So Bioware doesn’t think I’m loyal enough, or valued enough to get a free month. I bought a collector’s edition, and I’ve been subscribing ever since day one. Just because I haven’t had the time to get to 50, I don’t get a free month of subscription time.

Marketing ploy or not, I’m just as loyal as someone who got their toon to 50 and is about to ragequit over no real end-game. I’ve been plopping my hard earned money just as much as that person.  What makes that person more loyal than me?

If he’s loyal, then I must be a traitorous dog, a heretic, a bastard.

Maybe Blizzard would like to have my money back, or maybe I’ll just cancel until GW2, or Secret World (though I’m loathe to give Funcom any money) hits. I love your game, that’s why I pay you….but you as a company are hurting those who are actually loyal to you. You know those that pay, and don’t really have all the time in the world to play the game due to…I don’t know real life bullshit.

All I got to say is that hurts Bioware…that fucking hurts.

Developers Appreciation Week – Relic Entertainment

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 12, 2012 by theerivs

For DAW, this year I chose a developer that has given me many hours of joy. Relic Entertainment.

Blood for the Blood God!

Relic is a Canadian developer, but I won’t hold that against them. I’ll just touch on their history. Their first game was Homeworld. I really liked Homeworld, and it was a cool game.  They also made Impossible Creatures, I never played it…but I HAVE heard of it.  They followed up Homeworld with a Homeworld 2, it was ok…let’s just say not as good as the first.

Then THQ bought Relic for 10 million, and thats where I sit up and take notice.

See Relic is the developer of the Dawn of War series, and Space Marine. They bring to life a universe I love dearly. I remember loading up the first Dawn of War, and playing through the campaign, and to hear and see the little guys do battle. I swear almost as good as porn. Then you add a multiplayer where you can paint your own army, and lead them to battle. Dear lord I was in heaven. With every Dawn of War expansion I fell more in love with the game….then they did it again, and blew me out of the water with Dawn of War II. This game like all the rest with evey expansion it just blows me out of the water.

Then they put out a FPS in the Warhammer universe called Space Marine. I simply love it…I suck at it, but I love it. It really brings the universe alive in a whole new way. Relic also put out a game called Company of Heroes, and some expansions. I never played them but I heard good things about them.

Real life hero

In my little research I came across this that a Game Designer for Company of Heroes Online, Brian R. Wood, Died Sept 3 , 2010  while protecting his wife, and unborn daughter from an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was trying to remove a sweater while driving, and may have been under the influence of drugs.

So for bringing to life my favorite universe, and for being real life heroes, Relic I salute you, and look forward to your future work.
