Stuff your Sorry’s in a Sack.

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on April 21, 2010 by theerivs

So I was affected by the great Mythic debacle of  2010,  They offered an apology today.

I do agree, you know they could give me a free month, 15 bucks….which instead they are giving a choice of 2 things per toon. How you feel about this is probably very relative.  For some people,  they could be so hurt that nothing can win that back,  If I was charged thousands, and had overdraft fees up the yingyang, I would be more pissed than anything else, and would probably tell Mythic to go get bent…but I wasn’t.  I just had to sweat it out a bit. Considering Blizz just charged 25 bucks for a damn sparkly horse, I think this is a fair trade off in my eyes as well.

“For starters all players will earn 100% bonus experience and renown when killing enemies and monsters for two weeks. As well, during this time we’ll be hard at work designing and implementing a special vendor. This vendor will only accept special tokens that will be sent to your mailbox, using these two tokens each of your characters will be able to receive two of the following items:

•Bottomless Chaos Black Dye
•Bottomless Skull White Dye
•Imperial Griffon Mount (Order)
•Enslaved Manticore Mount (Destruction)
•WAR Tract – earn a free level
•Choose from any of these pets – Order: Imperial Hunting Hound or Dwarf Keg Handler; Destruction: Warlord’s Fell Hound or the Goblin Bar-Back.
•Change your appearance with any of these illusion items: Skaven Skin Cloak (skaven), Kossar’s Helm (bear), or the Signet of the Cursed Company (skeleton)”

Damn 100% more Renown…that is hot. I need it. Guess what, yeah I’ll be a WAR playing mug for the next few weeks. Now the problem is so many choices I don’t know what I really want. For my Chosen, The mount is kinda meh for me, cause I got the nice 150 gold mount (Thanks Ty), what I’m looking at is definately the Bottomless Chaos Black Dye. The other choices will be dependent on the toons. Maybe I should make a DOK too.

Well I’m glad Mythic is stepping up, and going above and beyond the normal game company. Kudos to them.

Tales of a Tanking Bitch

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 21, 2010 by theerivs

So I wanted to bust out an instance real quick on my baby Pallie, get my lovely tokens. So I entered one of those silly spider instance Anuk’crap The Old Dirty Bastard Kingdom or something like that.

There was a hunter, Now I hate dealing with pet classes in this instance, because then I have to kill 3 extra packs of mobs, but we start the instance. I noticed I’m losing aggro, to the damn pet. A wolf named Wolf. How droll.

I asked nicely, “Please…Please turn Growl off”  Think it’s growl, I avoid Hunters like the plague.

After a couple pulls, still happening. I snap…”Listen you fricking Huntard, you had at least 73 levels to learn how to turn shit off, and to name your stupid pet. Now I don’t care if your too lazy to give a name to your pet, but for the love of all that is holy turn off your pet’s ability to pull aggro, before it fucks shit up”

Nothing screams Huntard then an unnamed pet, it drives me into a PMS like rage….Some reason he left. Oh well no big lost, got a mage that loved to blow his wad in first 2 seconds……/facepalm

Bitch Betta Have My Money

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on April 20, 2010 by theerivs

I’m going to share with you my money-making ideas for Cataclysm. I tend to think outside the box, and look for things not really being farmed like crazy. Now that Blizz took away my Cloth income, I needed something to fill in the gaps. Of course this is server/faction  dependent, and of course since my millions of readers might start doing this it might be farmed alot. I’m sorry did I say millions, I apologize I screw up the decimal, the ten readers might start doing this. I really think though you can make some gold off this.

First you got to be an enchanter. That done..now you need to farm for the Crusader Enchant, I farmed it off the Archmages in Tyr’s Hand in Eastern Plaguelands.

Once I had that grab Weapon Vellums you’ll need those. Next your going to need to farm the Scarlet Bastion, which is in Stratholme, which is sometimes called the Live side. All the humans there have a chance to drop a Righteous Orb. Per run I get 3 to 6 orbs, plus 4-8 Large Brilliant Shard which per enchant you need 2 orbs, and 4 shards. Each run takes me 10-15 minutes. Create the Scroll of Weapon Enchant- Crusader, and you got yourself a license to print money on my server.

I’ve been selling them for around 225 gold. So if I get about 2 enchant scrolls per run. Lets say you need to buy weapon vellum, and the scrolls sell cheap right now, even if you go low to 100 gold per weapon enchant. That’s roughly 800 gold an hour on the low-end of the spectrum minus any fees/material costs like vellums.  Myself I’ve been selling them like Hotcakes for 225 gold apiece.

Lets just say I doing quite well on gold. The beauty of it as Cataclysm comes, and gets closer, and even after the need will go up, because the Crusader enchant is the best enchant for Melee weapons, because there is no level requirement. Some other enchants that are selling good in scroll format is Armsman, and Tuskarr’s though there is a little more competition. Cynwise told me the +30 Spellpower enchant is a good one for Casters BOA, I’ll check that out later.  Heck even Righteous Orbs sell for 80g a piece on my server.

So happy farming for gold, and hit me up if you got any good ideas you want to share.  By the way for those morons that buy Dalaran Pets for 100% mark up, thank you oh so much…so..so…very much.

Plea to the Raven God!

Dear Great Changer of Ways,

I am tired of grinding renown ever so slowly all my friends are RR60+, and since in my career as a Tank and Chosen, I have focused on PvE side of things. Which by the way the vile followers of Nurgle, the God of Pestilence have blocked my attempt to get my Sentinal Shoulders.

I grow weary of grinding away, and try to play catch up with my friends.

I beseech thee oh master of fate to perhaps see to it that we may have other way to get renown.

Suggestions Oh Mighty Tzeentch.

1. Token based turn-ins – You turn in tokens for Renown.

2. Renown on PvE boss kills as well - Not alot, but don’t punish those that like PvE as well.

3. Bump up Renown for people at certain Ranks - Say Under RR40 you get a bonus, under 50 a slightly smaller bonus. Then nothing when you hit RR70

Thank you for listening to the please of this worm of a Chosen, Oh Great Raven God.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

This picture is very artsy

What is art? I love Roger Ebert, I grew up on his insights of film. To him and a multitude of people film is a type of art. I won’t go into all the arguments again, but here’s Roger Ebert’s post, and here’s a really compelling post by a game developer Josh Drescher.

First off in the history of film, I’m sure there were critics who said that film was not an art form, now it’s pretty wide accepted as such, but that is neither here nor there. I think Art can be found in anything, any medium.

Architecture is a type of accepted Art, so when I look at the beautiful building made in Warhammer, it is not any less beautiful because it is in a Video Game, or Music is an art form, but when I hear it play, I think it isn’t any less compelling because it’s in a Video Game.

I use to program, and when I wrote my code it wasn’t code I was writing it was poetry. I saw beauty in the commands and integers, I saw my style, my flow. To me they were things of beauty.

I love Roger Ebert to death, but he is not the end all, be all of all things art, and to confine yourself in such a way is very limiting to me. To me the medium doesn’t matter, if it conveys beauty, complexity, or something that redefines the human nature in such a way it endures the test of time…to me then it is art.

My Hate Makes Me Powerful

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on April 19, 2010 by theerivs

I like to PvP there is no doubt about that, but here’s the thing I always have one foot still on the PvE side.

Ok for example in Warhammer, I use a sword and board Chosen Spec. Why? Cause I want to make sure I can tank something if I had to. Let’s put WAR to the side for now, because everyone is a PvPer there no matter what, or who you are, you have to be. Even though I’m a tank, I’m still viable in PvP. I love to smash some doors.

On the World of Warcraft side, My Mage, sure I have a frost spec, but it is more of a raiding type frost spec, my other spec is a raiding arcane spec.  My Gear selection is always got PvE on the mind. It’s like I’m afraid to commit to the PvP side of things. PvE is like my security blanket.  Not that I have always been this way, back in BC I did make the plunge into PvP hardcore in World of Warcraft. It was a lonely path though on a PvE server, where everyone just wanted to raid. There is something about WoW PvP I really do enjoy, I think it has to do with there are ALOT of Carebears, and whiners in WoW, and it feels real good to kill them.

Now that I’m on a PvP server, and that I am not raiding that much anymore I am really thinking about  going full tilt. Working for some PvP gear, spec, gem, and kill hard core. It seems like this new guild I am in, and this Horde on this server savor the PvP, and enjoy it.

I feel my Hate growing in me, and it makes me powerful…indeed.

Weekly Lagout

Posted in MMORPG with tags on April 16, 2010 by theerivs

WoW - Well it’s definately been a week filled with Mounts from Blizz selling a sparkly pony, to me getting my Baron Rivendare’s Deathcharger. Some fun time with my Hordies, and me just sitting back and collecting my gold from my endeavors. Yeah I’m amassing a fortune,  I might tell you how later on.

WAR - Well my the bloggers came back from Mythic with all their limbs, and looks like we got some things to look forward to in Warhammer online. I’m excited, as for me personally just grinding my renown, and officers medals. Would you believe I’m still 4/5 Greater Wards. I never ever got my shoulders from Bilerot. That place hates me.

Other Games - Just chilling waiting for the next best thing which is most like Star Wars. We’ll see.

High Latency Love -

Seriously Scarybooster and I are looking for someone to help us learn the art of the Podcast. Learn more about it here.

(I never link Scary, I had to make up for it)

Then head over to the Pink Pigtail Inn, just a  great post on Blizz’s treatment of the blogger Community.

Something Funny -

Suits you sir…

With that….

MY PING SUCKS, AND STILL SPARKLY PONY FREE!!

Blizzard is still a business, right?

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on April 16, 2010 by theerivs

Yeah last I looked Blizzard was out to make money, and lots of it. I don’t begrudge them at all for doing what they do. The Sparkly Horse debate rages on. Here is my thoughts. It’s just that a Sparkly Horse, you don’t need one, you don’t have to spend 25 bucks. If they up the subscription fee, hey I can quit playing. World of Warcraft does not rule my life, it’s a game I enjoy playing…for now.

Do I need a sparkly horse, hell no. I’m Forsaken Biotch, I wouldn’t be caught dead (or undead for that matter) on one of those things. It ain’t ugly enough, and it sure ain’t mean enough. I do not want my enemies to shout, “Here comes Rivzon riding his Sparkly Horse!!” Not really fear inspiring.

I do support this though, instead of getting a vanity pet, put your money to better use. Donate to a charity, or spend it on someone special. As for me, there’s a round of drinks for my friends at the local tavern. I really like this post, and agree with it.

That being said, I am as vain as the next guy what would I pay for.

Mounts.

1. A Dragon that spews an actual breath weapon, and is meaner looking, I love proto-drakes, they are ugly and hideous. The breath weapon need not do damage, just cosmetic. I hate regular dragon tails in this game too, they look like Pine cones, or corn cobs. Get rid of that.

2. A Demon Horse – Sort of like a mix between a warlock horse, and a pegasi. Remember Venger from the Old D&D Cartoons, what he rode was awesome. Let me get my Venger on, you got my 25 bucks.

3. Undead Giant – I thought it was cool, those quests where you rode a giant, or he held you and walked. How cool would that be, bonus if they let you choose where you sit. Or if the Giant held your friends while you rode his shoulder.

As for Pets. XT is a whiny little bitch. Here’s my idea of some cool pets.

Pets

1. Lil Ragnaros - Yeah they got a little fire elemental pet, but I would pay for one that said “By Fire be Purged” when you clicked on him, and other cool lines from the script. I would pay alot.

2. Lil’ Illiden -  He would fly around your head, and say things like, “You are not prepared” and “Sometimes the hand of fate needs to be moved”

3.Lil Sylvanas – That you can get naked, and have her sing on command.. I’d so pay for that…..*drool* What? Oh Nevermind.

Bottomline this whole argument reminds me the last line of the movie, The Devils Advocate where Al Pacino says, “Vanity, definitely my favorite sin.”

The Good…The Bad…The Ugly

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , , on April 16, 2010 by theerivs

THE GOOD…

You know there are days I think back, and really miss my old guildies of the Brotherhood of Oblivion. When I look at this picture it reminds me what I miss.  That’s Ori in the shot, and that’s my Eye of Kilrogg. Never you mind how a Mage got an Eye of Kilrogg. I just did, and I got an Eyeful let me tell you.

THE BAD…..

Now I’m Horde though, and I am having fun, I think it’s because it’s a little tighter, and they don’t take themselves all that serious. They are serious about their PvP though. This pic is one of those cool things, why I like the Horde, they should all have wallets that say Bad Mother Fuckers. Wall to Wall Drakes. :)

THE UGLY….

As some of you know, I’ve been trying for that damn Baron Rivendare’s Mount for like ever. Well I farm Strat for Gold, and Mats. I make a pretty good coin too. Anywho I got this drop, the head of the demon on Live Side, first time I got that. I turned it in, and got a quest to get the head of the Baron Rivendare. Now since I’m Horde, I stopped doing my Baron Mount runs, well because Baron Mount on Alliance is really cool, Baron Mount on Forsaken….not really that cool.  But I got the quest, and I can use the mats. So I do the run, and I’ll be a son of a bitch. Look what drops. That right, that frickin mount.

Addiction

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on April 15, 2010 by theerivs

You know what I read a story today about how someone played to escape their real life problems and troubles. I don’t know you, or your life predicaments. Only you know if your playing for enjoyment, and enhance your life, or are you playing to run away, and escape life.

There was a time in my life where I would play to escape my life. I was laid off, or I was working a piss poor job with a college education. Hell I was a bouncer with a computer science degree, I could solve for i, or kick your ass. Either one.

Addiction is a mother fucker. I myself was addicted to gambling. Like MMO’s it was a game to me, but with a different lure money. When all said and done, it cost me alot more than just money. I don’t want to see other’s go through what I did whether it be gambling, drugs, or MMOs

Do you have a problem? Do you think you have a problem?

Do you shirk your responsibilities at work, or home cause of video games?

Are you withdrawing from friends, and family because of video games?

Do you feel more alive, or happier online, and when you go offline are you depressed, angry, sad?

Problems with sleep, or have you gained alot of weight, or lost alot due to your addiction?

Do you lie about your addiction?

I myself had to ask these questions when I was addicted to gambling, and I had to take a long hard look at myself, and get some much-needed help. If you think you have a problem, you most likely do. I urge you seek some sort of professional help. If your afraid, or just want someone to listen, feel free to contact me cc0926(at)gmail(dot)com   Do it anonymously, or not. I am in no ways a professional,or will I have all the solutions,  but I have been around the block, and I always have an ear to listen with.
