Yearly Lagout

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on December 30, 2009 by theerivs

Now who's gonna drive me home on New Years!

In April of this year I started a new experiment, this thing called High Latency Life.  As I went along I made some wonderful new friends in the blogging community, as well as having some old friends follow me along from my old blog.

We had a fun year in MMO’s some ups and downs. We saw the rise and fall of Age of Conan, Aion, and some other MMO’s.  We saw the struggles of Warhammer Online.

Personally I had some fun playing a girl, starting a new adventure on a new server, and a new faction in WoW. Making some friends, and sadly leaving some old ones behind.  In WAR I saw the decline of a great guild, and  joined a guild that I had good ties with, and who are pretty awesome.

The Future -

Looking forward to 2010, we have some awesome things coming up in the MMO world. Star Trek Online, Star Wars:TOR,  WoW: Cataclysm to name a few. Also I’ll try to keep the hot chicks I post are penis-free this year….though I can’t promise anything LOL!.

High Latency Link Love -

Really I want to give everyone on my Blogroll some love, I do read all of you guys, and gals, though I don’t get to everyone as nearly enough as I should. If your on my blogroll it really means I liked something you said or did, or I kept you on in honor of what you did for the community, or I found you so entertaining I never want you to leave. I urge everyone to take some time and check some people out of my blogroll.  I hope continued success to all of you, much love.

I also want to give some love to my readers, and those who take time to comment.  It humbles me that you stop by read the drivel I pump out, and it honors me, and gives me great pleasure when you take the time to comment. Thank you all, much love to you as well.

Something Funny -

This is why I love talking about my penis.

With that have a safe, and happy New Years, and see ya in the Oh-Ten.

Another MMO I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Posted in MMORPG with tags on December 30, 2009 by theerivs

There was an MMO that looked interested. A cops and robbers one called All Points Bulletin. It’s being developed by Realtime Worlds, and EA.  I always enjoyed GTA, and an MMO based on an evolved version of this would be pretty cool. So I’ll be keeping an eye out on this one.

I am an Attention Whore

Posted in MMORPG, Other Nerdy Pursuits, Writing with tags , on December 29, 2009 by theerivs

This is me hanging out with a couple of friends of mine. Yeah I'm a Ho!

Keredria from Tree of Life wants to know more about bloggers, and I thought I would oblige. Plus talking about myself is one of my favorite things to do, cause well I am an Attention Whore. Why do you think I play a Mage?

1. How long have you been blogging? What made you start? Who inspired you?

Well I started reading video game blogs some time ago such as Tobold, and Greedy Goblin.  I through my hat into blogging  just for myself on a personal blog, Chaotic Ramblings back in March of 2008. Then when Warhammer Online came out I thought it was a new game what a perfect time to get in on the ground floor, so Way of the Chosen came out.  I got the Blogging bug from an old friend of mine who sadly doesn’t blog as much as she used to, but here’s her blog.

2. About how many hours a week would you estimate you spend on your blog?

I’d say no more then 3-5 hours a week.

3. What kind of experience or background do you have with writing?
Writing is more of a hobby for me, Poetry, and short stories are more my fortay. By trade I’m a computer techie guy.

4. Talk about how you come up with blog topics. Where do you get your ideas? What or who inspires you? Where and/or how do your brainstorming?
Some days are rougher then others to come up with topics. I usually get my topics from actually playing, or another blogger scratches the surface of something, and I like to delve deeper into that topic. I like going places no one else wants or dares to go, from playing the devils advocate, to championing a cause no one wants to touch. I like making people step out of the box.

5. Do you have any blogging rules or guidelines you follow? Is there anything you will not blog about?

I have one rule. Only One penis per sexual encounter, and that penis is mine.  Other then that I don’t really have any rules or guidelines. Ok I do have one rule…Honesty. Honesty to the reader, and Honesty to self as well, when I’m wrong…I’m wrong. I am human. I don’t censor my comments, cause I love the asshats.  Well I do censor spam, cause really I don’t want to subject my readers to making their penis bigger. We all know my readers have the hugest penises in the gaming community.

6. Do you have any sort of a publishing schedule in terms of day of week or topic? Where do you do your writing?
I try to post once a day. My only reoccuring post on HLL is the Weekly Lagout which is like the week in review, and a peek at what’s coming up. I do most of my writing at work, cause as a techie, if everything is working right, I don’t have alot to do.

7. How many drafts of potential blog posts do you have right now? In what medium do you draft your posts? How often do you completely scratch or delete drafts or blog post ideas?
I don’t draft, I write from the hip like a gunslinger. Once in awhile I catch errors and correct them after I publish them. I feel that’s the best way for me. It’s more like I’m talking to my readers then writing to them. I liken it to, were at a bar and were talking about video games and MMO’s then me just sitting here writing the next opus of Video Game Blogosphere.

8. If you had to leave your blog in your will to another blogger, who would you choose? To ask this in a slightly less morbid way, are there other blogs that you feel are similar to yours in content, style, or voice?
No grave can hold me, I made pacts with the Dark Gods, and will attain Lichdom soon. But if I had to pick someone  no one person could replace me, but I would like to split up the duties. Shadow, and Arioch probably fit my writing style, funny, witty, and to the point. Not saying other bloggers aren’t awesome, but when I read their stuff it’s like hearing me talk. Which scares me cause Arioch is a chick, and I wonder what the effect of wearing a dress has on me from playing a Mage in WoW for 5 years has done to me.

9. Has anything surprised you since you started blogging?

Just the sense of community these bloggers have, I thought it was going to be me against the world when I first started, but everyone is so great. Also the topics when I’m thinking are so great, so insightful never get comments, and the stuff I write that I think is stupid gets the most attention. The masses they be fickle.

10. What are your goals or plans for your blog going forward? Any specific goals or plans for your blog in 2010?

Yes, I have some plans. HLL is poised to take over North America, I have cracked the launch codes, and am pointing the missiles at strategic sites right now.  Seriously though I’m a fly by the seat type of guy, I just hope to continue making people think, and entertain people at the same time. One of my goals I am really looking into is finding celebrities that play MMO’s and get their take on things. I find that topic interesting. Other then that 2010 is going to be an awesome year on the MMO path, with Star Trek, Star Wars, Maybe WoW: Cataclysm, and so much more.

I am that Jerk!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on December 28, 2009 by theerivs

I see all my fellow bloggers posting about Jerks, whether they are tanks, dps, or even healers. I was thinking who will speak for the Jerks, the Asshats, or even the douchebags. Me that’s who. I will be the Lorax of the Douchebags!

Tank Jerks -

Listen I’m the boss. I will pull the whole room, and either you keep up, or go cry to your mommy. I’m sick of you screaming that you can’t heal through 10 elite mobs. If you can’t keep up, as a healer you should delete your toon, and go play Hello Kitty Online. As for DPS, hey I don’t care if I got my dps gear on, and I’m not even spec to tank, you better ease up on the dps so I can keep aggro, and if you pull aggro you are all bunch of fail.  Don’t like the way I do things, tough!

Healer Asshats-

What the hell is your problem dude. I was watching something on TV, I wasn’t even close to ready, and you go and pull more then one mob. Seriously you fricking jagwad. Hey if the dps would get off their ass and kill something maybe I wouldn’t have to be working so hard. GET THE MOB OFF ME FOR CHRIST”S SAKE!!! No I will not fade, I shouldn’t have to, I didn’t even put it on my action bars. What you mean I should get out of Shadowform?

DPS Douchebags -

KILL THE SKULL NOW NOW NOW! I died, fuck you all I’m outta here.

Christmas Lagout!

Posted in MMORPG on December 23, 2009 by theerivs

Well it’s starting to look alot like Christmas. My bills are going up, my account balances going down, and my teeth are starting to rot with all these damn cookies, and candy. So it means one things. A Christmas Killing spree!!!!

WoW -

I’m going to go on a Christmas rampage, not only BG’s but also some nice ganking, I’m going to burn down STV, and crush the spirits of everyone in Tarren Mill.

Since PvP is order of the day, nothing will really change here. Killing is my business, and business is good.

High Latency Link Love.

Scarybooster is doing better, I even did a guest post for him. I’m like a pestilence now…I’m spreading.

It’s a guildie’s birthday we call him the Cranky Tank, stop by my guildies, and poke fun of him at I like Bubbles. Happy Birthday you old bastage. (Technically I’m older then dirt, but I have the maturity level of a 17 year old, so I’m good)

One thing that made me laugh, Jong over at Forbearance used my real name on a post, not like I go through great length in hiding it. I just thought it was funny as heck. Check it out.

Something Funny- Holiday Edition

No one can resist my Schweddy Balls.

Screw you that’s my name!

Well Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kegs End, Happy Winter’s Veil, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Festivus….For the Rest of Us.

With that, I’m out until Monday cause.

Christmas Wish List!

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on December 23, 2009 by theerivs

Well if I was good. I know what I would tell Santa what I want.

1. Baron’s Mount – I swear I ran Strat so much, I know the whole place front to back. I know it better then my own home. Messed up thing is my new server Azgalor seems like everyone’s got one.

2, Proto-Drake – Their ugly and mean looking ‘Nuff said.

3. Gold- Going to need alot for regemming, enchanting new gear, plus I feel Cataclysm is closer then I think.

4. Time - Some time to get real game time in. My real life has been hectic as of late. I just wish things will slow down, and I can get some playing time in.

5. To hit the number one spot on DPS charts – I’m always around the Top 5 on 25 mans, and always 2nd or 3rd on 10 mans. I came close a few times, and the people who are hitting top spots are usually a hunter, a fellow mage,  or a lock. All very awesome players.

Is there such a thing as too much Haste?

Posted in MMORPG with tags , on December 22, 2009 by theerivs

So in my mad acquisition of haste for my Mage. I sometimes wonder have I sacrificed something in lieu of my haste. Even when my gear wasn’t that good, I sacrificed for my haste, having a blue wand with haste, instead of a purple one without. I had that blue wand for a long….long time. I’ve been an Arcane Mage for awhile, and the potion change when you can only drink one in combat, then you got to wait until your out of combat really…really sorta kinda…well pissed me off.  Yet another PvE change to appease the PvP crowd.  Here’s the major thing I worry about, the faster I cast spells, the faster I go through mana, the faster I run through mana, the sooner I will run out, and if I run out, I’ll be sitting there with a thumb up my arse. Is there a point where there will be too much Haste, and not enough Mana in my Mana Pool to really make a difference.

As an Arcane Mage, I am constantly worried about my Mana consumption, which should be on every Arcane mage’s mind. I sit there and blast away, and I have come dangerously close to whipping out that wand which thank god is purple now. I toy with my rotations, the way I hit my gems, and evocation. I try alot of different things….so I can squeeze out an extra ounce of mana out of that mana bar.

My rotations is the usual Arcane fare. I arcane blast at least 4 times until Missile barrage procs. If I am Mana starved I knock down the AB quota to 3. In the longer fights like Lady Deathwhisper, I sacrifice Molten Armor, for Mage Armor to gain more Mana Regen.

So until I find a comfortable zone, like Snoop….. I got my Mana on my Mind, and My Mind on My Mana!

A Word about Player Housing.

Posted in Gaming with tags , on December 21, 2009 by theerivs

Personally I am with the Goblin himself on this. I think it is a huge gold sink. I am glad World of Warcraft doesn’t have it. Dark Ages of Camelot had it, and I knew people farming for coin just to pay their rent. I do that in realy life, I don’t need to do it in my virtual life.

The only way I see me owning a player house is if it was totally cool, and most importantly useful.

My Dream House would be either a cool Mage Tower, or a Haunted type mansion. Just spooky or imposing in some way. Where when I roll up I say dang that is bad ass.

Usefull items that this house should have. .

1. Teleport to anywhere. – I’m a mage a normal port simply will not do.

2. Extra bank vendor – A whole new bank vendor that has more slots.

3. A repair vendor – So I can repair stuff.

4. A Sims like tool where you can furnish it, and add things like trophies to it.

Though Housing I think is a long way away in WoW, and I won’t miss if they don’t put it in.  If they do, all I ask is that it’s cool as hell.

Weekly Lagout

Scarybooster after the surgery**

Well personally been a shitty week, but thats the great thing about Virtual life sometimes it’s pretty damn good.

Got some new gear, got to play doctor with some Patients, Made some gold, spent it all on regemming said new gear, and just had some fun with my guildies. I’m really enjoying patch 3.3.  Oh yeah…Still no Barons Mount, thanks Blizz.

Reupped, and just having a blast with Scenarios, and the good PvP they have there. Oh and my Chosen looks Badass as always can read more of my adventures in Warhammer Online, on my other blog. Way of the Chosen.

Other MMO’s

LOTRO – Ok I not a huge LOTRO, but it’s free this weekend. I might just take a look see. Will I fall in love with berry picking….only if it’s my berries.

STO- I guess I preordered a game, and forgot about it. I don’t know what the hell game I could of preordered, but Gamestop is going to give me my 10 bucks back. I’m gonna slap it down to preorder STO. Syps Story on this title intrigued me, but I don’t care if Klingons is mostly PvP, I like PvP if done right.

High Latency Link Love-

Scarybooster is going under the knife, he’s keeping it private cause it may be personal I don’t blame him, but I think he’s getting a sex change in Taiwan, and doesn’t want to tell anyone until he heals, and looks hot. Anyway lets show him some love while he’s drugged up at Scarybooster’s site.

Also alot of lazy bloggers out there letting Gnomey do all the work. Let’s show Gnomey some love too. Damn Lazy Bloggers during the holidays.

Something Funny -

I think as AOC proved Tits do not make you popular. Dante didn’t really learn that lesson.

** That is actually a dude, her name is Miriam, it is Not Scarybooster….he’s cuter. LOL!

With that….

I’m not a Doctor, but I play one in WoW

Posted in MMORPG with tags , , on December 18, 2009 by theerivs

“Hey Honey, I’m not a doctor, but I’ll take a look. Ah I see the problem. Searing Totem burn. ” ~ Frostscourge the Mage

So last night I was going to pop in do some minor stuff, and watch Inglorious Bastard with Brad Pitt. I’m not gay, but he’s damn shexy. Anywho I get an invite slammed in my face, after the fail of earlier in the week last person I want to see in Marrowgar.  I’m a team player though, and I can watch the movie anytime. So I head in.  Kotex the Absorbant Druid said to me cheer up there is an awesome belt that drops. I’m like “Yeah right, do you know my luck with gear.”  So the fight itself went better then earlier in the week, we had a rough start. I told them in the beginning I was only going to give it 3 shots. So first two were wipes. One officer mentioned lack of DPS, My hairs rose on this comment. I even spoke up,  “I had to move alot that fight, moving dps means little dps for me.”  What I really wanted to say isn’t safe for work, home, or 13 states.

Third time was the charm, everyone was hitting on all cylinders.  Well it turns out I’m the only mage in the group. The Belt does drop.

The Cord of the Pratronizing Practitioner

That might be a little hard to say drunk. Unto Lady Deathwhisper. Kotex the Absorbant. Said a good Offhand drops from her. I’m like yeah right….two awesome items in one night. Whatever. I really don’t know all thats going on in this fight, cause I was the one who got to open a can of whoop ass on her with all my Arcane Goodness.  It was HOT!  This put me in the best mood ever. Just unleashing my magely fury to get her shield down. We wiped once, we were a little slow. Second time we knocked it out of the park, and I got unleash the fury some more. Loved every minute of that.  Hey guess what I got this..

Scourgelords Baton.

Kotex the Absorbant asked, “You happy now?”  My answer, ” A little”

We went on to get the Skybreaker event down, after a wipe. Then it was time to call it on Saurfang. After everyone left, I started the script. It was the furthest I went in. I wanted to see it. I also hit Friendly with Ashen Verdict, and I got a really hot ring.

So over all a great night, 3 great items….and the ironic thing is I really didn’t want to go.  Oh yea any of you girls got a problem need me to look at, let me know.
